Hi

I'm new to Bitcoin. Been trying to start GUIminer, keeps saying nothing to mine on exiting.

I need all the help I can get I'm not very technical person.

I want to get into BitCoin because I see it as an alternative currency free from World Banks and Federal Reserve etc.
The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

If you don't have ASIC miner, i.e., if you are trying to mine with normal CPU or GPU, it's probably not cost effective to start mining bitcoin now. It has become too difficult. If you really want to acquire bitcoins, it's cheaper to just buy at an exchange.

My opinion is you may be better off mining Litecoin and hang around the "Alternate cryptocurrencies" board to learn about other alternatives.

I am also a non technical person and it did take longer than I was hoping to set up my Mining for my GPU which i did not to mine through my ocmputer as that would be a waste of time and money but rather for the vanity public address.

So as far as answering how. Cant really say but I would say don't bother.

Getting started mining is no easy task - what operating system?  Are you using CPU or gpu or fpga (most of which are nearly obsolete) or did you happen to get your hands on an asic?  Either way some details about what your using would be helpful!

That said - there is more to bitcoin than mining and more to mining than bitcoin - good luck!!

I just have a standard CPU, I can add more graphics cards or whatever. Windows 7... I can run a virtual Linux machine or get one physical one if that is a better option to.mine.

What do I need to buy budget is less than 300.
