I'm sure we've all seen the Bitcoin/Litecoin ticker http://www.gregledet.net/?p=668 for the Pi.

I've got all the equipment, including the exact monitor used in this process, however I am curious if anyone out there can/has developed a program to instead view say the Top 5 profitable coins currently displayed on coinchoose.com?

I'm as noob as they come when it comes to this stuff, but if anyone is willing to help, I'll return the favor in kind in any way I can!

Thanks so much!

It would be cool to see a ticker showing the name of the latest alt coin that has been created in the past hour or if necessary, the last 5 minutes.

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

Fucking A that would rule! However It would probably be damn near impossible to get up to date information on releases unless a physical person inputs the information manually right? I mean as far as I know, other then looking for [ANN] forum posts, I never know when a new coin releases

Sure, it could be fun.  I guess the issue (like others have said) is programmatically finding announcements of new coins with confidence.

How much memory does your pi have?

And wouldn't it be better to find only coins, that are traded at some exchange? So you can trade it for fiat or btc?

Could we not use the API : http://www.coinchoose.com/api.php?base=BTC

I could definitely do this, and am willing to do so. I would probably end up developing it in Python (.py), and releasing it on either Github or a website.

I am going to start this now. I do not know if I would be able to implement the inclusion of new alt coins. However, I can definitely implement the request in your first post.

This might be a good way for me to get into the community ... never know Tongue

This should only take me a few hours to complete. So I will link to the website/github page once done.

I do have a Raspberry pi to test on, but I am going to make this program run on any computer with a python environment.

Edit: Just Confirming: Would you rather this be built in Java or Python?
