Dear sir,

The miner box looks very compact so could you please share us what's temperature of GPu at your 59% tdp.
I'm afraid with just 60cm box, 13 GPUs are too much. Btw, I really like the design. If anyone could tear it down, it should be cool to see how they arrange everything.

tell you  what  it has been running for days now in a warm garage .

and New Jersey weather is warm today  55f  at 4 pm.

Give me 10 minutes I will take some photos of msi afterburner showing temps.

Nice Review.

So you are saying this Version (with the 13x 1060) is quiet enough so I could put 1-2 of them in my appartment and the surrounding neighbours would not complain?

Also do you know if they offer a version with 6GB GPUs?

In terms of sound: This is true of virtually every non-blower style GPU that is used for mining. Even with 100% fan speeds, gpu noise dwarfs the kind of noise asics make. I have had both running in my home before.

Yeah I had some L3+ and D3 at home, they are killer. But I also have a 6 GPU 470/570 rig at home and it's also not "quiet" (as to where neighbours might not hear it).

So I was wondering how much more quiet this was...

45 db at 8 feet   did you listen to it in my youtube video?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BobJrsFuSNA

my best open case is 51db at 8 feet.

While I made most of the open rig and none of the closed case  in this review to be non biased

there is a close argument  as to which one is better.

This tells me they updated the fans in the chassis. Same thing I've done for my enclosed builds it's a must on that type and good to hear that Autominer has done that.

My mention of the GPU noise being quieter was in reference to open air builds I have.

Phillipma,

How is the cpu utilization while mining?

I have a 13 gpu rig (7x1070, 3x1080, 3xrx570) on win 10 using a 3930 and it mines fine, but I use awesome miner, afterburner and a bunch of different mining software.  Just curious how the cpu load compares to mine.

I did find that the default monitoring update time in afterburner is aggressive and caused large cpu spikes, I backed it off to 10 sec intervals.

My cpu is underpowered as initializing a remote desktop or teamviewer instance drops hashing for about 2 or 3 seconds then picks back up.  Only with claymore's miners though.  My next rig will be a much better cpu.

Overall an impressive setup/design.  If gpu availability and pricing are good I can see these moving easily.

Dear  philipma1957

Can you make some pictures of the build . I want to know how they can build it with 13 gpus in this small case.

Cheers

Wayne, already asked, already answered, not going to happen.  This is a demo and showing us this detail compromises their design and phillips agreement with them.

I can say this  if you own one and are handy you can copy it.  Since my deal is 2 months mining and the gear up front.  Then buy or return it. I am not disclosing how they did it.

As for the prototype it has 1060 3gb zotac's
it has the 3930 celeron
and it had 4gb ram.

Since the ram is easy to access  I put in 2 8gb sticks
The cpu lags I will look at the   cpu %  in a minute.

I am going to buy a case and build a copy down the road  but that will not be until late spring.

@ eleceng1979

I went to msi set polling to 5000 not 1000

I set cpu usage and it is 38% 44% for each core.

Translation mining with 13 1060 3gb cards and a celeron 3930  will work fine.
Do not except a fast pc under this setup.
I have a spare i7 6700t cpu that whispers to me let me run this gear.  Not going to happen maybe when I do a copy build I will try it.

I like this gear.

three of these racks would allow 12 units  four per rack

https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Tier-Wire-Shelving-Rack-82-x48-x18-Heavy-Duty-Layer-Steel-Shelf-Adjustable/152681610135?

see this shed

 https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-x-8-Gambrel-Wood-Shed/272700854575?

it would fit the 3 racks

12 x 3200 sols =  38400 sols of zec

you raise the shed on these

https://www.homedepot.com/p/6-in-x-6-in-x-12-ft-2-Pressure-Treated-Timber-6330254/100010238

buy 3 of these

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-1600-CFM-Power-Gable-Mount-Attic-Fan-EGV6/205924917

all exhaust

and since the racks come with 6 shelves and you only need 4 for each rack you have 3 left over

use 2 on the floor of the shed for intake

these fit 2 per rack.
you pull in cool shaded air.

you need 15000 watts to do it or  3x  30 amp circuits  with 240 volts.

with 2 guys that know how to work this can be done in a day .

and  if you want you could line it  inside with this

Hey everybody and thank you again for your great review philipma!

We just wanted to let you know that we have taken your advice and put a plan into action: All new Autominer Gen. 3 will be fitted with 8GB of RAM and a upgraded CPU.

As some of you may already know GPU´s are realy hard to come by right now, we have however managed to secure 130 NVIDIA GPU´s and are waiting for delivery, hopefully next week. In the meantime we decided to test a "entry level" version that will be quite a bit cheaper, we will update here once the prototype is finished! Grin

We believe that only if entry into the crypto-space is easy and relatively cheap, the true spirit of decentralized currency can be sustained.

On a sidenote: We now also offer our units "barebone", just add cards! That way old/spare cards can be put into effective use with very little effort.

Nice update -- when can the barebone unit be purchased, can you elaborate on what Nvidia GPU's you have coming? base spec?

Had a quick look on the website but couldn't see the barebone option? What is the price

Also I know we can't see internals but the cards are using risers right?

No mobo has 13 full sized slots.  So that leaves risers as the option.

The bare bones idea is good.

As  stronger louder fans   could be used if you don't care about noise.

I still think 10x  1070 ti's may be best way to diy this

these are the same size as the cards in mine  210mm long

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500408

the ones in my rig
https://www.zotac.com/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-amp-edition#spec

the 1070 tis  could be set to 100tdp  should pull about 1100 watts at the K-watt meter

and we know 13 1060 fit  so 10  1070 ti would be a better fit.

There's a lot of people having problems with larger rigs/risers etc around that place mainly power related so I was looking at the 8 GPU riserless mobo from Octominer but if this is very stable and there's no issues with the mobo and risers then it could be a good alternative depending on price

The Barebones unit is 2.000 Euro since the same work goes into building one of these as goes into a "full" unit, we simply substract the card price, we will add that option to the website this week (we are a bit overworked right now, we´re just a small team)  Wink

I know that the 1070´s would fit as well, but we noticed that we get slightly more "bang for the buck" on the 1060 models, the 1070 is a bit overpriced imho but maybe that´s just in Europe?!

I received mine too. The miner is running smooth. As philip suggested, the ram should be 8gb and the cpu should be a bit better for windows.
3 gpus came broken and 1 is running at 200 sols for me, but that's DHL handling it badly. I'll file an insurance claim with DHL for that.

What i would suggest for autominer is for the gpus to be packed separately and not inside the unit.

It is good that it came.

yeah  the gpus needs be packed better within the rig.

or separate box.

did you get zotacs, evga or go the AMD route?

Oh I pulled the front grill and it is cooler .
I have nvidia set at 59% td  and all cards are under   70c

he has 2 fans in front one is stock thermal take 200mm the other is a different 200mm fan.

they pull 150 cfm + 130 cfm = 280cfm

Yeah we already ordered self-inflating foam packs to pack the cards in better so this shouldn´t happen anymore with the next batch! Thank you for your feedback, we get better every day thanks to you! Smiley
