Hi,

Seems Kucoin is in China. You know if Gate.io is also in China (not Hong Kong)?

Thanks!

What are you trying to say? Don't seem to understand that as early as September 2017, the Chinese government has cleared many were registered in the trade website, so leave now basically is registered in overseas trading platform, the government may have no way to close them!

Since gatehub is a british based company, It doesn't make sense if their offered services are only available for chinese users right? And I can't even see any option that allows to change the site's language into chinese.

Here is an address from gatehub itself:

Address
GateHub Limited

Suite 48 88-90 Hatton Garden
London
EC1N 8PN
United Kingdom

EDIT: On a second note, Are you asking if chinese users can access the given site?

Obviously there is a very successful history of the Chinese stock exchanges, but the website designs are very bad. Unlike the Chinese government, the crypto exchanges perform well. But if I can not say the same thing for kucoin, I always want the verification code and it throws me off the system, I do not like the interface of binance, and I have the login problem. The gate.i looks good as a design, I hope it does not want constant captcha code.

Gate.io .... When you make deposit, they don't ask questions, BUT when you want to withdraw they ask KYC with your passport, ID, shoes number, blood type, fingerprint and urine sample.
I have no intention to give all my data and passport scan to some random Chinese for crypto worth of 30-40 USD.

I have no affiliate link, no bounty, no signature campaign... Only Proof Of Work!

We're just having the same case, I think they started implement KYC last year because in the fast 2 years I am able to withdraw my coins there but when I come back it is already required KYC. I have Ethereum coins left there worth of 50$ but I can't withdraw because of the new KYC implementation. That is really strange there if you deposit an x amount no rules but in terms of withdrawal, they are asking a lot of requirements.

For this reason, I do not use exchanges with registration, as they can always surprise me with a KYC. I use exchangers without registration, ChangeNOW, for example, but everyone has their own favorite exchanger. Also, I use Binance, which I trust.

Gate.io used to be bter.com -

https://www.coindesk.com/bter-bitcoin-stolen-cold-wallet-hack

https://bitcoinist.com/bter-hacked-nxt-pos-at-work/

I would be choosing to trust somewhere else myself no matter what country they're based in.

Yep, based off that alone you'd certainly want to avoid them.

I've heard plenty of stories in the past about bter, with their wallet maintenance and constant withdrawal and deposit issues that it had later on in its operation. I know a lot of people personally that had funds stuck in Bter for ages.

Now, even though gate.io does seem a lot more professional than bter ever was from a UI standpoint, it is likely that aspects of the terrible customer support and constant issues will carry over. It's very rare nowadays to see exchanges based in mainland China due to the strict restrictions, and I'm fairly sure that it's located in the Cayman Islands which is a popular offshore jurisdiction for exchanges.

How is that a problem? Virtually all former Chinese exchanges have moved abroad and/or rebranded.

How can you trust Binance when it also require registration? Don't you think that's not what you should do according to your principle? Binance is similar to Gate.io, move out from China to get more freedom to make more money from customer. I won't be surprised if Binance will suddenly requires you to do KYC.

that's why I prefer instant services - they didn't store your funds and it's quite easy to avoid kyc. On changenow f.e. you can exchange near 10 btc per order without kyc. but I'm always doing smaller orders, near 1-2 per transaction
