I have actually sold on ebay internationally a handful of times and have not had a problem with lost packages or a claim about something damaged/broken. I guess I just got lucky because we know ebay has a lot of scammers!

Many American sellers don't sell internationally because of that. But there are plenty of scammers in the US as well (e.g. pirateat40).
