I know that BitInstant had some trouble with their new features that they rolled out but did Gox's money problems force a shutdown at BitInstant?

Right.  But for BitInstant, maybe they were only using Gox to fulfill orders instead of multi-exchanges.  It would take time and effort to make sure the transition went smoothly.

I only used Bitinstant once back in Summer of 2012 to get funds to GOX.

Back then they actually met their 1 hour requirement of getting funds into and out of the exchange.

Now, from what I hear, that is not the case. But this is all second-hand information I can't vouch for.

I was under the impression that they were a premier partner, thus depositing funds with gox would never be an issue since the delay is due to anti-fraud measures and they have 100% confirmed bitinstant.

Just use BitPay or Coinbase. I wonder if BitInstant can move to TradeHill as well.
