The Bitcoin network can already handle a much higher number of transactions per second than it is currently processing. However, it is not fully prepared to expand into large credit card networks.

You have obviously not followed the developments regarding the Lightning Network and applications like, Lighting-Charge that was launched during this week? The Lightning Network is going to take Bitcoin far beyond the scaling that would be capable by these centralized networks.

We are moving towards a new era in Crypto currency scaling with the help of these second layer applications. The competitors will not be able to keep up and will fade into the darkness. ^lol^

Yes, surely bitcoins can become a major payment gateway in future as it has the potential to give huge profits in the future and also it has several benefits like it is easy to use, it is used globally, and much more. I am sure bitcoins will reach a great height in future. Several huge sites like amazon, aliexpress are looking forward to setup a new payment gateway with bitcoins and it is really a good side view about bitcoins. Also several peoples have invested in bitcoins and even the demand is continuously rising which will indeed make the price go much more high. Bitcoins will perhaps cross 40k$ by the end of 2018 and the number will increase in the upcoming future.

Bitcoin also has the advantage of being a truly international currency. Some people like to say that this is the currency of the Internet. If the Internet was a governing body in its own right and if it had its own currency, Bitcoin would be the next best thing.

I think it is possible because it is developing strongly not just a country but also many different countries. I think Bitcoin has become a good distribution network for the future.

I just hope that it will be implementing its lightning network soon so that it will be able to cater all the pending transactions quickly and cheaply...

Of course that it can, but not with the actual size of the blocks and the current fees, it would be impossible to buy common stuff with bitcoin and having to wait more than ten minutes or half an hour to receive the 1st confirmation, don't you think so?

This is something I am really hoping for. Right now, I try to avoid making payments with Bitcoin or at least make it worth the transaction fees.
