I think ASICs can only make the price higher on medium-term, because they move the project to a less amateur level...but well just my 2 cents.

My thinking may be wrong but with all the ASIC miners coming online the difficulty to mine should go up which will increase the scarcity meaning a higher price(?)

Just my $0.02 as well  Huh

it will be like DASH.  Price will rise but miners will make like 2$ a day.

siacoin team announced that they will change the algo slightly and a3 miners can not mine siacoin
then nobody seems to worried about that if that happens will siacoin price fall?

You should consider holding it for 3-7 days.
SC will increase because the new asics and hard fork coming. Keep your eyes on news.

Definitely it will go up, should pump hard once the hardware is released and some serious miners write reviews about it, monitor the market closely though

Yes, I also agree. Mining will be difficult to do without ASICs but the price will go up in a mid to long time frame.

Very likely now that it's an almost certainty that Bitmain is going to flood the market with A3's

My 2ct.: buy the rumor, sell the news.

Sia is a slow but steady moving project, these guys are serious. They don't make a lot of waves and focus on providing something that works and has real world use. From an investment standpoint, it's a pretty good one.

Now you need to consider the market cap which is currently not far from 2 billion while the global MC is ~600 billion. The current coin supply is over 31 billion and will grow more. If 1 Sia was worth 1$ when the Obelisk comesout, it would have the same MC as Bitcoin cash. That would be a 2000% increase from it's current price, which is not impossible in the crypto world.

The only problem I see with asics, is centralization. I mean, I don't like asics, you're stuck with mining certain algos only. I'm not 100% sure this is the right move for sia.

It's hard to tell really. I've hodled SIA for so long, I ended up selling some to enter other projects. The best thing you can do is watch the price closely and see if the trend changes. People are stocking up on SIA because of the news, see my 1st phrase...

EDIT: taking a look at the order books on polo/bittrex, I'd say a pull back will happen, not the time to buy.

Unfortunately Sia team has made it very hard to acquire and store SIA coin. No SIA wallet No third party wallet and only a few exchanges most of which have suspended new subscriptions from being created. How so many companies are developing miners for this coin is beyond my understanding since the infrastructure is still mostly unsupported for trading/purchasing purposes.

What are you talking about?

Sia wallet:

https://sia.tech/apps/

How to use it:

https://www.cryptocompare.com/wallets/guides/how-to-use-the-sia-coin-wallet-sia-ui/

They have enough markets:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/siacoin/#markets

Not the best, but I hear they're working on been added to new ones

They have some network/wallet issues, but if you look at bittrex and poloniex, many coins have problems too.

I'm inclined to think those are "problems", not problems

Check Full Price Chart of Siacoin There are many websites where you have to see Full Price Chart Of Siacoin with Sia coin Market Came And Past Prices Dropdown records and more.

  • Cryptcompare
  • Coinmarketcap

Isn't it interesting to note just before bitmain restarted selling the A3 all of a sudden sia prices started going up....
