i bought bitcoin from coinbase and sent the bitcoin to a bitcoin wallet on binance. it showed up as "tether usdt" ,,, since i didnt want tether i sent it back to the bitcoin wallet....it showed up at coinbase as 6 cents.....now what do i do? did i loose my money? or "tether"?  i called coinbase and they said since they dont deal with tether they dont know where it ended up.  Binance has not been helpful at all. They put tickets too "solved" without emailing me what the problem is or what i can do too reverse this. Anyone can help once i get the tether back so i can transfer it too btc or whatever i have too do i will send $50 too anyone who can help. thank you.

If the above is your tx from coinbase to binance than its coinbase fault but if the above is your tx from binance USDT to coinbase than its your fault because you have sent bitcoin to USDT deposit address in binance.

You should contact binance and tell them to recover your bitcoin from USDT address as both bitcoin address and USDT address have similar structure they can easily recover your bitcoin from that USDT address but might take some fee on that deposit.

As mentioned by OP, Coinbase doesn't deal with usdt so you have a very slim chance of getting your coins back. Not to mention, they can't even retrieve mistakenly sent coins which they support (BTC, BCH)  Roll Eyes although they have said that they are working on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/7ntt4t/bch_accidentally_sent_to_btc_address_will_be

Either way it's still recommended to contact their support to get a clear gist of things.

How did coinbase send the USDT? Coinbase does not deal with USDT at all so i hihly doubt that you have probably messed something up here or it was never sent by coinbase but by another guy. Coinbase has nothing to do with USDT whatsoever.

If Coinbase did send USDT instead of BTC, then contact support. It's their fault.

However, you should not have sent back the USDT to your coinbase address since they don't deal with USDT. Getting that USDT back is a hassle, you have to negotiate with coinbase to find a solution. We can't help you here, since we don't have access to coinbase private keys.

Is this your address with coinbase?
If so, they may return your usdt, but they may not want to do it.
I have experience in saving usdt by mistake and communicating with various exchanges. I can try to talk with CoinBase.

Everyone will recommend you to contact both's end support.

They are the only ones that can help you out but try out to contact again Coinbase's on why did they allow the transaction to commence.
