Locked topic to consolidate multiple threads. Please see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=388847.0

12/20/13 UPDATE: Due to some gray areas in current US legislation, f*D is making the following changes until further notice.
- Payment is only accepted via PayPal through the website
- Loading of crypto to the proofs must be done by the customer (I suggest keeping the transaction detail as a printout inside the custom leatherette once the proofs are loaded
- Pricing has been adjusted on the website to align with the new policies and also I have added some end of the year bulk purchase discount pricing
- All reservations not yet paid for are being made available to the public

Sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to be able to accept crypto payment and loading of proofs in the future. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Sounds really cool.

Thank you my friend. I plan on using your service as well, however, the site I am working with does not allow me that option. I will have to create a new site from scratch so I can add your service as a plug in. I will be your customer soon! I love what you guys are doing!

Only paypal is supported thru the website builder I use. No other option from what I am told. If you have any creative ideas, please let me know.

11 XPM = ca 0.08 BTC

1.5 BTC for this item is so overpriced. If we assume the silver is 0.25 BTC then you ask for more than 400% of what this coin is actually worth...

And I thought more physical coin competition would actually lower the price...

The silver is just one piece of the equation unfortunately. The custom die costs a lot of money and time to create, there is the proof stamping process which also adds an incremental charge per coin, the cost for the custom leatherettes is another add on, the tamper resistant hologram stickers are yet another incremental and then you have the generation and manual insertion of the actual XPM. Once all is said and done, considering this is a batch of only 50, the profit margin really isn't anywhere near what you have calculated. My hope is to offer these for a long time and if I end up purchasing additional batches, I will be able to bring the price down as at that time the overhead would have been paid for.

I set the price based off of what other physical coin manufacturers are charging. As a matter of fact, their supply lines are much larger so they should be able to be far cheaper than they are. Like I said, this is the first batch and it is a small quantity so the overhead is far larger than if I had made 1,000 pieces.

All this having been said, I think there is a little wiggle room where I can try to make this first batch a little more affordable, but unfortunately not much on this initial batch. I will adjust the price to BTC1.25 with the 11 XPM included or for BTC1 if only purchasing the coin without the physical XPM attached.

Overpriced? This is the first physical primecoin. He/she could've put the price up to 2 BTC's. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

Of course he can ask whatever he wants. And there are probably even people who'd buy it for 2 BTC...
Also I like the design of the coin, but wouldn't spend more than silver+embedded coins+a reasonable markup.

This not only regards this thread/coin, there are many first physical $somethings these days. Buyers should just be aware that they get an item which is worth the material + the coins on it (in any doubt the coins only if they can trust the producer/seller).
It seems everybody wants to get the next potential "Casascius Series 1 coin", but I doubt that any of these newly released coins ever will be worth more than what the initial price was for them.

Sorry about the inconvenience. The physical XPM are only available for purchase via crypto: btc, CGB, ltc or xpm. The service I went thru to build my site does not allow external payment plugins so I have to handle this via email at this time. I have the new site built as of this morning, just need some time to get the payment processor linked up and transfer the domain. This is high on my priority list, but I do not have an eta at this time as I have to manage my efforts around my family and full time job. I will get it running soon though.
