I don't get why people would get fan gpus and not water cooled. Can a water cooled card be in the same pc as a fan video card? Do you need to get a special case?

Liquid cooling is usually an expensive luxury(although sometimes the inflated prices go up in a way that makes the price difference quite small). If you live in an area where it's hot year-round, then liquid cooling may be a worthy investment. However, for most of us, air cooling is sufficient. A liquid-cooled card can be in the same PC as one that uses an air cooler. However, you need to have a place to mount the radiator and fan. (And if it's a custom cooling setup, then obviously you need space for your reservoir and your pump, not to mention all the tubes.)

Liquid cooling systems are designed for gamers and I don't believe liquid cooling can live up to the reliability of air cooling under the harsh 24/7 mining conditions. Pumps failing under constant use and PVC tubing turning to mush from high heat are a concern.

Yeah just generally the water cooling components take up a lot more room so it's not economical on space.

4 out of my 6 GPU's are water cooled. No issues here.

They'll payoff just as fast as any other card that is the same class and is similarly priced.

Water Cooled isn't significan for heat reduction solution. and the price of Water Cooled is more expensive when compared to the fan. the purpose of some people using Water Cooled water to reduce heat on the GPU, but in the case of mining isn't just GPU.

Hybrid Cards are far superior,
The Cards themselves stay remarkably cooler then their air-cooled brethren, These following 10 cards are all EVGA 1070ti SC Hybrids, Overclocked to Core +180 Memory +1300 Power Limit(watt) 113 watts per card, Running Under SMOS
and here are the results for those ten cards, look at those temps, and these run 24 hours a day,
GPU1 36C Sol/s: 512.7 Sol/W: 4.45 Avg: 501.8 I/s: 269.2 Sh: 0.50 1.00 212 GPU8 34C Sol/s: 501.2 Sol/W: 4.43 Avg: 499.1 I/s: 267.8 Sh: 0.46 1.00 214 GPU3 39C Sol/s: 483.7 Sol/W: 4.48 Avg: 487.3 I/s: 261.0 Sh: 0.47 1.00 214 GPU5 36C Sol/s: 503.8 Sol/W: 4.42 Avg: 498.5 I/s: 267.7 Sh: 0.51 1.00 211 GPU4 36C Sol/s: 502.4 Sol/W: 4.49 Avg: 489.9 I/s: 266.6 Sh: 0.48 0.99 210 GPU7 38C Sol/s: 503.5 Sol/W: 4.43 Avg: 499.3 I/s: 267.7 Sh: 0.49 0.99 214 GPU2 32C Sol/s: 503.3 Sol/W: 4.42 Avg: 498.3 I/s: 267.3 Sh: 0.49 1.00 214 GPU0 38C Sol/s: 500.1 Sol/W: 4.47 Avg: 504.0 I/s: 270.5 Sh: 0.49 1.00 218 GPU6 36C Sol/s: 512.7 Sol/W: 4.46 Avg: 502.4 I/s: 269.5 Sh: 0.48 1.00 214 GPU9 38C Sol/s: 507.5 Sol/W: 4.45 Avg: 502.1 I/s: 269.5 Sh: 0.50 1.00 213
You will Never find this low of card temps, unless you are spending a fortune on Air-conditioning, or live in an Arctic environment year around,

I have a bunch of liquid cools GPUs. 1080 and 1080tis. Because of the typical complete cooling they are most stable. They are more efficient at higher clocks because of the lower temperature.
Will it pay off? Maybe, maybe not. You need less power, because less fans. ( Lets talk about 11 GPUs with each 3 Fans.... 33 Fans compared to maybe 6 bigger Fans and the Pump.)
Overall i like em most and will get more watercooled GPUs. It all depends on the price.

My 1070Tis idle at higher temps than your mining temps Stupid 7 year heatwave in Southern California. I haven't tried Hybrid cards yet. Do I just need to mount the small radiator and fan assembly to the back of a case if case mining or somewhere on the mining frame? No other pumps or equipment needed?

Hybrid cards still have to dissipate the same amount of heat from the GPU, memory, and VRMs, except that it's done through the radiator and fan instead of just a fan. Although your monitoring will show the card is "running cooler," your environment won't be noticeably different as the same energy is being expelled regardless of how you do it.
