I think we already talked @ Github  Wink

Quote
I try it. But everytime , when i open btcrecoverseed, it doesn't work.

I guess you mean that: extract-electrum-halfseed.py
yep, because "extract-electrum-halfseed.py" and "extract-electrum2-partmpk.py" do not work with encrypted wallets.

Quote
And i'm sure that the wallet is from Electrum. I can't understand why my password who i wrote and the seed doesn't work.
There was a bug on my HDD when i changed Electrum version.

you ever used the password after you have changed it? If yes, and it worked - your Wallet-File is probably Corrupt (somehow) - if not, then you probably made an mistake while creating the new password.

my recommendation:
Start with the "Typos", so you can exclude that you have errors with upper/lower letters, swapt letters, missing letters or double letters. (these are usually the most common mistakes)

EDIT: I just see that HCP has already recommended this to you.

Best Regards

Yes we talk about it on github ! Wink

You ask the right question. I think but i'm not sure,  the new password worked on electrum 3.04. Then i installed 3.05 and few days later , when i try to open my wallet with the same password, it doesn't work.

There is two explanations for my problem :
- Like you said, the wallet is corrupted. I don't know what to think...Can i know for sure if my wallet is corrupted? Can i analyze the file and see if they are some errors ? I'm sure they was a problem with my hdd.
I can't restore old version of this wallet. And for my other wallet, i can, why ?

- Or like you said my password is wrong. I made an error when typing it. But i check my keyboard and i was very careful when changing my password.
I copy / paste it on notepad file to not make mistakes.

Now until the end of a week, i making new passwordlist.txt with multiple combinaisons and i will try it on btcrecover.
On Monday, i will tell here if i succeed.

Thanks for all of you guys, to helping me. I can't loose this money so i will try anything to recover it. If i can i will sell my wallet to anyone who can deal with this problem...

Thanks again, i hope i had good news monday. If you have any suggestions, contact me.

Good luck - this user and I spoke in Private Messages about how to construct the password list with variable/wildcard characters.

Hopefully you return with good news. If you want help creating your passwordlist we may be able to provide feedback on that as well.

hm.. Can you still see your download-history? Are you sure you downloaded Electrum 3.05 from the Original electrum.org website?

I don't think you are going to be able to recover your passphrase using brute force as 15 characters is a big dataset to try. The only way you can recover is if you somehow remember your passphrase otherwise I don't think its possible.

As far as I know, there is no possibility - at least in your case, because your wallet is encrypted.
Normally, Electrum does not open "Corrupt Wallet-files". But I do not know how Electrum deals with (Corrupt) fully encrypted wallets.

Long Story short, if the file is Corrupt nobody will ever be able to crack it.

just in case you missed it:

Hi guys,

I try it all this days... I made 10 passwordlist and nothing...
I'm dying. I don't know what to do next. I found someone to buy my wallet for 2 btc... I don't know if i can accept.

For the question : Yes i download it from here, from the link of official Electrum. The post who said there is a vulnerability on Electrum.

I still thinking that my wallet is corrupted. The file seems damage. Like i said i always had a possibility to restore an old version of my wallet.
Here I can't or maybe there is a way to restore the old file with the previous password ?

You have 2.5 BTC in it, right? I would sell immediately (2 BTC for a fully encrypted broken wallet - where he does not even see if there really is something on it)  Grin
Do not get me wrong - a password protected wallet is worth 0$. You can be happy if someone gives you 100 bucks

then I would say it is definitely broken.

Only with the seed... Unfortunately, there is no other possibility.

What do you mean you "always had a possibility to restore an old version" of the wallet? Huh Do you mean you were able to restore old versions of wallets when you were using a different wallet application? (like Bitcoin Core etc)

It's pretty simple... you either have a backup of the old file with the previous password... or you don't. Do you have a copy of that file stored someone like on a usb drive or other backup media? If not, then there is no way for you to magically restore this file

I'm still confused by a comment you made earlier where you said:
3 / I know that's strange for my seed. I try to swith servers, i try everything and nothing works... And I'm sure about the seed because like i said, i recover one of the btc adress. It's green on the corner everytime.
If your seed was recreating a wallet that has the same address that you previously had... then there is something else that isn't working right.

If the amount that is in your wallet is even close to 2 BTC... sell it! why is this even a question? Tongue And if you do sell, just remember to use an Escrow service!

I'm guessing your wallets has more than 2 BTC in it?

1 / In Windows , i can restore old version of the file : "properties , previous version" for all my wallet except this one.

2 / No it was my mistake. I write the password and the seed everywhere but i don't think to make a wallet copy.

3 / No my seed WORKS. I recover a wallet with no balance, no adress. NOTHING ON IT.

4 /  2.5 btc on it. But i can forget selling it. The buyer ask me to send it first with no escrow...

So now, i wanna just know who is fault ? Mine, the software , my hard drive ? Becasue i wrote the password, i wrote the seed who recover an empty wallet...
I will never use Electrum again.

@ncsupanda I'm ready to accept your help, maybe you will able to make better passwordlist that i do.

I hope in future someone will find a way to crack electrum wallet...I keep it , hoping that it will be true one day.

I am convinced that you have written the wrong seed. You could try to swap individual words, For example you read "House" but you write "Mouse" because it sounds similar - i know, is a daring theory  Grin

unfortunately that will not happen, Brut-Force will be the only way. Yesterday, I also remembered something, If the wallet file is damaged nobody will ever be able to crack it - Theoretically, even if someone manage to crack the Wallet, the decrypted data would not match the original data. You can only crack it if something has gone wrong when creating the password (during the encryption process). If the wallet was damaged after the encryption process probably nothing will help.

Ok... I just want to be very clear on this... because your answers are a little confusing... Undecided

When you recover the wallet using the seed you have written down, it is generating different addresses to ones you previously had? I don't care about balance or transaction history... I only want to know if you have the same or different addresses, because you've said:
4 : The correct seed. I even recover one of my btc adress and i check it i can find it on receiving adress. So this is the correct seed.
3 / I know that's strange for my seed. I try to swith servers, i try everything and nothing works... And I'm sure about the seed because like i said, i recover one of the btc adress. It's green on the corner everytime.

So you have said that you have "recovered an address" using the seed... but now you say that the wallet you are recovering contains "no adress[sic]"??!? Huh
3 / No my seed WORKS. I recover a wallet with no balance, no adress. NOTHING ON IT.

Huh

Sorry for the late answer...

I try seed recover with BTC. Nothing works.
With my actualy seed, i recover a wallet. But on this wallet, there is nothing on it. No balance, no adress.

I did'nt know what to do next. So i hire Dave recovery service. Now i wait for the result.
This situation is very difficult for me, so i'm trying not to think for now. Like i said, i hope that one day, someone will find a easy and a sure way to break a electrum wallet.
I tried many options and i m' very exhausted. I don't know what to do next.
I know that maybe there is a way with the master key or something like that, but i don't know how to do it.

i hope that one day, someone will find a easy and a sure way to break a electrum wallet.

This will never be the case.
This problem is not related to electrum.

I tried many options and i m' very exhausted. I don't know what to do next.

You might start with answering questions you were asked earlier..
Maybe start with HCP's questions?

Again... I am not understanding this correctly. You previously said you were 100% sure of the seed because it recovered an address:
4 : The correct seed. I even recover one of my btc adress and i check it i can find it on receiving adress. So this is the correct seed.
So, please answer this question... A simple yes or no...

Does Electrum actually regenerate one (or more) of your old BTC addresses when your restore your wallet using your seed? Huh

This is VERY important... Without knowing the answer to this question, we cannot more forward in the troubleshooting process.

Someone here told me to restore a wallet with my seed and i did. Then, to try to recover some btc adress used and i did find two of them.
When i say no balance , no adress, i mean no balance and no History of transactions.

But when i go to "adress", i find two btc adress who i used to move funds.

So we can tell that Electrum restore 2 of my old btc adress , with my seeds.

I hope i'm more clear now. Do i have to stop asking Dave Recovery service ?

Someone here told me to restore a wallet with my seed and i did.

Thats right. This is the correct way of generating all of your old private-/public keypairs

When i say no balance , no adress, i mean no balance and no History of transactions.

An address is not the same as the history of transactions from your wallet client.
Those are stored in the wallet file. Those won't be displayed after recovering from a seed.

But when i go to "adress", i find two btc adress who i used to move funds.
So we can tell that Electrum restore 2 of my old btc adress , with my seeds.

Then, obviously, your seed is correct. It should generate all of your addresses used.

I hope i'm more clear now. Do i have to stop asking Dave Recovery service ?

There is no sense in asking anyone to recover this since there is nothing to recover.
Your wallet/seed recovery works without a problem.

Is it possible that you have imported a private key sometime in the past?
Those are not included in the seed.
