It has been on almost every news platform and television channels, you could even hear your neighbor talking about it at the BBQ, or maybe your post man tried to convince you to invest in litecoins.
Bitcoin has been really gone into the people heads during the last few months and some people assume that it has been gone mainstream already, and some believe that it is not even close to mainstream.

I think that we can consider bitcoin as mainstream because a very large precent of people have already heard about bitcoin atleast one time, it doesn't necessarily mean that they own bitcoin or know what it does, but it means that they know about the coin, something we could only dream of few months back.
What do you think?

I don't think it did, actually not at all. Well if you consider Japan only, sure he did there but even in Japan it's not like there is a huge amount of transactions with Bitcoin anyway (network allows 7 transactions/ second so actually this is not possible for Bitcoin to hit mainstream right now, unless Lightning Network gets widely spread soon.
But if we mention a specific price, there is analyst named Van-Petersen who stated last year that believes the price of Bitcoin could reach 100k USD if crypto-currencies account for ten percent of the average daily volumes of fiat currencies trade in ten years. This is what I call mainstream. Wait and see.  Wink

I think it has hit mainstream yes , when the big new stations report on bitcoin and the bitcoin price a lot of people will know about it . But i think most people still won't buy it because they are scared. So the knowledge about bitcoin has become mainstream but owning bitcoin hasn't i think.

Not yet....don't think it counts as "mainstream" until a lot of people start using it-

Nope, not even close. People knowing about bitcoin isn't it going mainstream. Being on mainstream media isn't MAINSTREAM ADOPTION, which is what people want and are really talking about. Bitcoin at the moment is known to people as either something they can make really good money in, OR something which is used on the darknet in order to buy drugs.

So, it hasn't.

Yes, i think Bitcoin already hit the mainstream of this era, i mean look at it, people are going crazy about it, more and more people are getting interested with, they invest their money to it, they think it is much better if we invest our money to bitcoin trading. So yeah, it is mainstream now, even kids nowadays knows this stuff. 👌👌👌👌

As you say it depends on your definition, bitcoin is famous many people have heard of it so for some that could be enough but since that does not make a difference in the price then I think that is not enough, we need people to use bitcoin, without that bitcoin is not going to grow.
