If you think this is a "depression" rather than a correction you are in for an ugly surprise once the real depression comes.

I would not call it "THE GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION". This was just a minor correction. If "THE GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION" really come will be very quiet for a while.

it was not a correction it was just market panic, maybe bitconnect ponzi scheme was main cause for this, the bitconnect scammers sold of their coins for US dollar/communal currency and started to run.

this then devaluated the entire market.

Well we all survived in a way or another but all the market is still on a rollercoaster and the prices may swing with prices. Just hold and you should be fine if you are in a difficult position.

This is not the great crypto depression, but the oscillation due to a rollback after rapid growth Nov - Dec. And a great opportunity to invest at reduced prices Wink

Bitcoin is always a rollercoaster but we all see what bitcoin does at the end of it. We rise to new levels and we can buckle our seatbelts again.

I basically just stopped looking at my blockfolio app during that time.It was too depressing to look at but I knew there was an imminent recovery so I basically just pretended I had no cryptos. It just proves how difficult it will be to make cryptos worthless

It is a great opportunity if you have funds for investment. I don't have so I have to "enjoy" the view of the red items in my portfolio and drink a sedative

Barely. I chose my spread poorly and only made 5x overall... pretty disappointing. Lessons learned though.

In January the Crypto is always in decline and depression. It is connected with a lot of holidays this month. People rest and do not want to trade. But immediately after this depression crypto spring always comes. You need to show some patience Wink

DID EVERYONE SURVIVE THE GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION OF JAN 2018???

The Crypto depression of 2018 was not long as the one of the year, 2009. It was a few days of crypto depression, however many investors who panic made some great loses. But during the spree I held my crypto investments very strongly without panic.

Think of it as a battle arena you have to win. If you want to come out as a winner, you should choose a strategy that is compatible with your condition and understanding, then make it as the main weapon. One falls and a thousand spring up.

Or just another pump for most of the coins. The 1st thing i noticed during this depression was the delays in these transactions. Either in bitcoin or in etheruem, and i think there was a lot of scams and free services that werent actually worth it. Especially these transaction accelerators. Almost all post in the services is for that purposes and good thing that the mods in the forum took action at least the situation was eased up.
Not all market conditions have the same profit opportunities. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this. Grin

So far after those stress from sudden drop in bitcoin and all other alts value I think I was able to survive because until now I am holding my investment and still waiting for the recovery of cryptos it is indeed that we must understand that crypto currencies are unpredictable and can pump and dump anytime but even though still it will manage to remain in the market and will continue to grow no matter what. Sooner we will embrace a new high in its value just continue hoping and believing

I'm always learn how to survive in cryptocurrency, because this digital money has a good future. I believe as soon as possible cryptocurrency will come back again like as previously. It just takes patience to wait for it all, so you don't depression, just keep calm and be positive for everything.

Strange wording of the question, but the answer is yes.
This was the time for new investments, which in time may prove to have not only survived but we have gained more profits.

Oh yeah, this was nothing. The worse is yet to come. At least there were some signs for this one (China/SK news).
