What the heck.

That is why it is advisable to do your own research before taking action, paper wallet is good if it is only generated in Electrum because you are only in control of your privkey.

Now the only thing you can do about that is to track the bitcoin address, and try to learn where it goes and find a person behind it, but it is not an easy task as that person can just use a mixer yet if you contact every mixer to make an alert when someone send a bitcoin in their system with that address, I know it can be program with Javascript and Python, though it will only be a liabilities but can solve the problem when that person is going to be dumb and not thinking too.

Sincerely,

I don't think they will use a mixer because the full amount went to a new address with no previous txs on it!

if they wanted to send it through a mixer they would dump all stolen cash into one address!

So yes! I wait to see if they leak personal info!

tick tock ...

Not true, there are more safe ways to create a safe paper wallet. Armory is a really good one, especially if you create it on an offline machine. Also bitaddress.org which the poster probably intended to use is safe if you take the right security measures to generate the address. There are many guides here on the forum on how to create a paper wallet using bitaddress offline. You can use a pc wallet like Exodus, an android wallet like Samourai (highly recommended), or a hardware wallet (best for large amounts) https://www.ledgerwallet.com/r/bfc6 Its worth it to have a ledger wallet especially if your storing larger amounts of BTC. Think of it like opening a bank account...with a ledger its like a really super secure high tech bank with all the trimmings Wink

**edit** also order direct from ledger (see link above) people have had issues with some resellers.

Exodus isn't open-source either, I wouldn't trust them with large sums of money. Better get a hardware wallet like you mentioned or a safely offline created paper wallet.

Yeah that is another example why one get an address it should REGISTER providing ID. Then the police would chase the owner who stole them for you.
Now you can chase your tail with this anonymity sh*t.

Then what's the point of using bitcoin if your address should be registered with an ID? If that's the case then just use your typical banks or visa cards. One of the selling points of bitcoin is it being pseudo-anonymous. What you said is the main opposite of it.

I think you have been scammed and you need to get experience for the latter. You need to buy cold or hot wallets to protect your property. Although it is expensive but it is a way for you not to lose money.
Some good purse like Ledger Nano S or Trezor, ... those are the best cold wallets I can recommend to you. Hopefully you will not be hacking your account and your assets are safe forever.

it really hurt for me to loss almost 2 BTC, with this case like this, i hope people who use bitcoin can take a lesson to not do something that not really necessary to your bitcoin. if you wanna do something like that choose reliable to do that with good track record and many people use it. it can be unlisted guarantee for you. because if not like that the website can be scam of fake website. we all have to be careful to something like this. Bitcoin is irreversible transaction. when it gone it gone.

thanks guys,

who do i report the crime to?

as i understand the protection service hides their email so surly I need to get in touch with the ones protecting to release the thieves identity?

Every crime gets reported to the police, that's the legal way...
Now, depending where you live this will be forwarded to the branch that is investigating online thefts , phishing scams and others like that.

On your own you're not going to be able to do anything, sending mails is just a waste of time without a court order.
They are not going to release personal details (which I'm 100% sure are fake anyway) to some random guy.

Honestly , the chances of getting you coins back are slim to none.

It is sad but this is the truth, getting that bitcoin back is going to be impossible and even getting those responsible to suffer the consequences of their crimes will be very difficult too, what I wonder is if the OP has the presence of mind to use Ubuntu over other insecure OS why he did not install a wallet on his machine and generated addresses that way.

Thanks for the enlightenment, it is more likely that O.P visit a site that wasn't really bitaddress online paperwallet generator it might be a malicious web site that was really like bitaddress legitimate website basically it was a phishing site of that bitaddress, if that was the case I can more understand what happen to O.P if it is a malware software that compromise his/her computer that would also explain a different context in which O.P said that his life saving was stolen.

For example of phishing scheme this website looks like a BCT forum: thebitcointalk.net this is the first time I've seen this forum.

So you want to make your wallet for the purpose of getting frozen wallet? and make it with that website? I think that is the wrong way.
because the website owner must also get a copy of the private key from the address of the address you use to store your assets.
grieve with your lost assets I see his total is quite a lot.
