It is an excellent point. I haven't thought about it. I always that cryptocurrency is the future of financial transactions but before that we have to supply every person on earth with internet and a mobile/laptop. This is a very concerning situation.

...compared to say u.s. dollar bills which you can hold in your hand or stuff in your mattress.
this is why bitcoins will not go mainstream because majority of human beings on this planet do not have access to a computer.
successful gold standards are things like toyota trucks, ak-47's, u.s. c-notes which thrive in places like afghanistan and africa.
Well, who said you need a computer in order to access bitcoin there another way in which you can buy sell and trade your bitcoins. You can use any smartphone or smart devices. More than 90% of people are using a smartphone so it becomes easy to buy sell and trade with the help of a smartphone.

It is true that most of the population has no access to the internet and technological literacy as of now by that doesn't mean Bitcoin is going to die for that reason. In fact, I do believe that blockchain technology will help to improve the current situation because the core concept of blockchain is all about decentralization and empowering every single unit and of the micro level. That means we will see growth in literacy rate over the period of time if we are getting support from government to implement blockchain technology in most of the sectors.

I don’t think that is accurate because although some people does not have access to any computer, they can use their cellular phones to connect to the internet and some even have more gadgets per person in a household. So I don’t think bitcoin will fail because only minority of the population cannot access the internet.

I don't know what is your basis in your topics but according to statistics report that in smartphones alone there is almost 70% user across the globe, we all know that smartphone is considered as a portable computer and it can access to internet thru data or wifi. https://www.statista.com/statistics/274774/forecast-of-mobile-phone-users-worldwide/

For using bitcoins you dont need a computer, at least smartphone enough. Don't assumed that only have computers can access bitcoins because mobile phones, tablets and other gadgets can access too.

LOL 😆 40% of the current world population is almost 3 billion. 10% of that is more than enough to keep bitcoin going for the rest of its digital life.

I don't know where you get that % but according to this: https://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htmThe World right now is at 54.4% in terms of internet users, there are people that use computers that cannot access the internet but you cannot access the internet without computers(smartphones and gadgets are computers). Bitcoin is still young and more people will eventually get internet access in the future. We don't have to let all 7+billion people of the world to use crypto or Bitcoin for it to be deemed a success.

If that was the reason, then Bitcoin would have fallen a long time ago. Yes, it's true that not all inhabitants at this planet have acces to Internet but even if they did there is no guarantee that all this people would use Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. Whether would some use Bitcoins or not doesn't depend only on internet access. To my opinion for Bitcoin survival isn't crucial that all people use it but that there always is a critical number of users who will support it. And for that we don't have to be afraid. And with time Bitcoin popularity will grow, not equaly at all parts of the world, which is impossibe, but enough not only to survive but to grow further.

Our world is evolving rapidly, maybe back then its hard for some people to get access to computer and smartphones, but today is different, almost every member of the family has a smartphone even the poor ones, they dont need computers to access bitcoin, just through their smartphones it can be done. The modern world is still developing, sooner or later those percent of the people will be lesten. The lester the count of the people do mot have access to the computer the greater the chance of knowing the bitcoin or cryptocurrency

I think even though 60% of the world's population can not access the computer but bitcoin will not fail because the growth of bitcoin over time continues to grow, now the technology is growing in the future 80% of the world population can access the computer and interact with the internet, so many people will recognize bitcoin.

The future will show, but in my opinion not having an access to a computer has nothing to do with "Bitcoin not going mainstream". Like other users already mentioned here, BTC was never made to go mainstream, it's a virtual currency and indeed the most popular one. Times change and the crypto world changes as well, so I believe that somewhere in the future people will be able to purchase Bitcoin without even the need to have a computer or any computer knowledge.

If you don't know than Bitcoins market cap is hundreds of billions of dollars. That is more than enough to show that Bitcoin has already succeeded. And if 60% of the population of the world can't access Internet than doesn't that means that Internet has also failed according to your logic. I don't think Internet has failed even with the current adoption rate.

60% of the world population may not be having access to computers.... but a few years ago, it was more than 80%. The availability of internet is increasing at a rapid pace. Very soon, it will be available on every nook and corner of the world.

If 60% of the people cannot still access internet after a decade, bitcoin might eventually fail because of lack of progress. But internet users are increasing at rapid rate and many ordinary people have access to internet even in the far flung area of a country. The rapid development of technology is continuous in the coming years and will benefits a lot of people which will lead to the further increase of internet users.
