Wow! I found some for under 800 € (from retailer)!

doubled? more like quadrupled, rx 580 is being sold in few places for $1200 from $250.
I'm a nice guy, so I'm willing to part with six cards for $6,000 Grin

Rx 580 8g  ====》 580€
Spent 310€ each for 5 shipped on Friday. I expect them on Monday.

Can I please know where you got those Rx 580 so cheap? Are they still available now?
Private individual from France. I took all he had. Brand new cards.

I believe nvidia quit producing them. Voltas are coming soon.

Voltas are coming soon and pretty much the RX will become obsolete if Nvidia delivers as they have promised, the first GPU-s to be equipped with GDDR6 memory and hopefully will show a great improvement in coins which are dependent on memory. Still here in Italy you can find only locally a RX 580 for 440 EUR which I think it is too much for 30 Mhash they offer in mining.

Samsung is now mass-manufacturing GDDR6 memory for new gen gpu-s. But when will volta come out no one knows.

This is pretty interesting, Samsung seems to have done very well out of GPU sales and it seems they are one of the first companies to acknowledge crypto-mining.

I wonder if VEGA cards are going to be the top dogs or whether Team Green will triumph this time around.

I bought a few cards at Christmas for around 200 GBP, and the prices are steadily climbing. 1060s and 570s are pretty badly affected.

Why do you even post in the mining subforum when it is obvious you think mining is pointless (never mind that most coins would not exist in the first place without miners)?

I really hate to put people on my ignore list because I think hearing from those you don't necessarily agree with is useful, but your posts are pretty much devoid of all meaningful content and not helped in the slightest by appending "hehe" to nearly every sentence.

But please feel free to prove me wrong by writing something cogent and meaningful...

So, is it a bad time to buy some 1080 Ti because the new thing is coming out...or is it the right time because there won't be anything available for month?

It is a good time to buy a gtx 1080ti only if you find for $500. Volta is coming soon and likely a gtx 1080ti will not be used for mining in few months  and volta will be for gaming, paying more than $500 for 1080ti is hanging yourself to death. I think a gtx 1080ti for $500 is still very expensive, to be safe $350 maximum.

It is manic, I have just managed to get some of 570 nitro+ 8gb for the price between £323-£345. It is well expensive, should have bought when I first looked into mining...

Soon you will find a rx 570 for just $100 and where I live idiots are paying $400. Remember that rx 470 used to be selling as low as $120 and it was brand new, a rx 570 is just a copy of it and selling as $400, that is bs and i do hope the idiots inflating the gpu market will lose a lot cause of it.

Same here in the Midwest USA.  I mean you can find them, but you have to pay double or triple msrp and that's a horrible business decision.

Volta/Ampere won't release until March at the very earliest.  It could be later than that since Nvidia has zero incentive to rush the launch since they're selling every single Pascal card they can produce at this point and AMD isn't exactly much of a threat with their practically non-existent Vegas.

As long as ETH and XMR are profitable, I wouldn't count on RX cards dropping that low or even going back to their original MSRPs.

Okay, understandable but this is supply demand right? so in turn if there is no profit then expect rx 570 at $100.

Come on where are your heads, rx 470 was $120 brand new. You trolls have been spoiled to see the truth.

AMD and nvidia is selling the gpus for almost the same prices as before, Third party manufacturers and resellers here are the greedy ones.

Sure, if those coins and their derivatives tank for whatever reason, there would be a huge number of cards being dumped on the market, just like what happened with the Tahiti/Hawaii cards back in 2014.  Actually, I think it would be even worse this time around since there would be both AMD and Nvidia cards flooding the markets so prices might be even lower than $100.  I still don't see this happening though now that crypto has entered the mainstream consciousness and everyone and their dogs has figured out that GPUs are little printing presses.

Its totally weird. Eth was 1300 range and rx cards were 250 and available.
Recently Eth dropped to 1000 and cards are sold out everywhere.

Totally unlogical.

Problem is that with such prices its hard to break even.
Of course. When this finally will happen there will be new cards.

However price of these new cards will be too high.

It seems logical for the idiots, if we take current prices, $800 for a rx 580. I bet Titan gives 4 times or more performance than rx 580.
