BASED ON THE TELEGRAM, ETHERZERO IS STILL ON GOING BUT THERE SPECULATION/RUMORS ABOUT IT THAT IT WAS JUST SCAM COZ THEY ALREADY CANCEL IT. ANYONE CAN CLARIFY IT?
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

It's hard to say anything for now i checked their website and this what it shows :

Quote
The EtherZero fork has been successfully launched on block 4936270, now we are testing in the real circumstances, will release the blockchain explorer as soon as possible for people to check and follow EtherZero fork schedule to do our next job. Thank you all for your support!
1. The snapshot of the block height of 4936270 will be obtained at about GMT 10:30 am 20th Jan.
2. Deploy nodes and tests under real fork circumstances, deploy official mining pool, block browsers, etc.
3. On GMT 8 pm 22th Jan, release the official Custom Node node, at this time you can go to MEW ,imToken or other wallets to get EtherZero candy. The ETZ from the pre-sale will also be released since GMT 8pm 22th Jan, estimated will be finished until 23th Jan.
4. On 22th Jan, GET ETZ tutorials will be released.
5. On 23th Jan, the official mining pool will be released.

As stated today is the 22th so most likely you can claim your tokens using mew.
The last thing mentioned was it is supported by yobit currently , it's better to ignore that because most likely they have airdrop this token as well.
Even if it is a scam you shouldn't worry as this is just a fork but if you invested in their so called ico you surely need to worry.

If its a scam then dont you think that even trying to claim it from MEW is not a good idea since one will have to give up their private keys?

I think etherzero is scam.. As other said there is no announcement for this hardfork. Better check it first and be vigilant.
We'll never know the money you've invested will vanish.Maybe if there is hardfork for ethereum there will be announcement

ETZ I don't know about it. I have my coins all on my Ledger, do you participate in the airdrop then? Because I don't wanna move it to an online wallet and eventually get it stolen.
