7 cards on one board

Found this board http://www.citilink.ru/catalog/parts/motherboards/675016/ it has 7 slots, can i use them all? anyone out there using this board or something along these lines?

you can probably do it friend but its a dark art, and most people for the price just go 3 cards max and then build another rig.

i mean i can pick up a Motherboard for 89$ with a 8 pin cpu - runs 3 cards perfect, what does the CPU cost you? 40$ Ram ? I've never run more than 4Gb.

I've found generally when you go more than that , basically you are asking the hardware to try to achieve things it was not meant to, i.e your reliability and up time curve starts to fall.

others may disagree, but that is what i have found, I can run all hardware to its maximum performance and have very few stops, in this manner with certain parameters.

Ahh I see, well you will certainly have fun , tell me how it pans out .

Remember if you split your psu , to take into account the second one if it is plugged and not earthed if you are running powered risers , maybe prelude can comment more he runs lots of cards .

6x 7950s on a single 1500 will be pushing it pretty hard , depending on your yield .

6 cards is easy to set up, 7 is more of a bitch. You could always try for 7 and use a USB WiFi adapter instead of PCI-e. Some boards will disable a PCI-e port when 6 ports are in use, so you may have to use a USB adapter anyways.

For the power supply, I would avoid that one or anything else Thermaltake. Personally I only use Seasonic (Silverstone 1500w in picture died powering 5 7950s and Silverstone won't honour the warranty) , you simply can't get any better than Seasonic units. Splitting smaller PSUs is the way to go.

Coolermaster has started using Seasonic to make their new V series power supplies. They are TOP notch, and based on Seasonic's latest KM3 platform. They are rated Gold, but are actually Platinum. I don;t know about Russia, but right now you can pick up a V1000 for 160$ after mail in rebate which is a smoking hot deal for that kind of quality.

For power, I've run 30A 240v circuits where I need. SOOOO much better than running power supplies on 120v.

Here's what my power supply distributions look like:

1x: Seasonic X1250w + 1x: Corsair CX 430 powering 6x 7970

1x: Seasonic Platinum 1000W + 1x: Seasonic X850 powering 7x 7970

2x: Coolermaster V1000 powering 7x 7950

1x: Seasonic X1250: 5x 7970

1x: Seasonic X1250: 4x 7970 + 1x 3930k for Primecoin

Plus I have a spare Seasonic X1250 for another rig that I'll be building eventually.


My 7950s average 680KH/s while pulling 300w @ 1.09v

My 7970s average 740KH/s while pulling 220w-250w @ 1v-1.1v.


If you're using powered risers, only power them with the primary PSU, same goes for motherboards with an extra PCI-e power connecter.

670 DCII TOP I bought used, worked fine for 3 months and suddenly died playing BF3. 7950 DCII TOP bought new, died after 2 months of mining undervolted. RMAed, and it just died yesterday after 4 months of mining. Their RMA service is a total joke, after going through 2 of them I think I'm just going to junk this one. If I do RMA it, it's going straight on CL.

It's possible. Like the op of that thread said, it's been redesigned a bit, probably several times. Well then go for MSI, they never let me down. My old Radeon 6770 is 2 years old, and I've had no problems with it yet.
Clocked it a few times (to test, due to the card having bad cooling i didn't proceed), crashed my system and everything a lot of times, yet it works fine.

As to reliability I'm not so certain , I've found all ATI gear to be very robust , I really can't complain I've had a few Asus maybe you got a bad batch ?
