Hi all,

This is my first time posting here and after searching for answers, I couldn't find anyone with the same problem.  Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

I'm running SMOS on a Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3 (with mining bios) and struggling to get a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW to be recognised when connected on the riser card.

If I plug the 1080 FTW card directly into the mobo it is recognised and works.  If I put a different GPU on the same riser card it also works.  It just seems to be this GPU that isn't recognised when being connected via a riser.

I made sure I had power connected to the riser card as well as the 2 power connections on the GPU (separate 6+2 pin cables from PSU).

The riser cards are Ver 006C with 6 pin power sockets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try different riser versions for the non-detecting card.
I hope you have made changes in the BIOS such as changing PCIe lane speed to GEN1 for x1 and x16.
I'll suggest using nvOC Linux distro, as it is tailored for Nvidia mining rigs.

Maybe only a bad USB cable, this is a common problem with risers. Or you have much interference.

If don't use a other riser  Grin

Yeah I had the BIOS set to GEN2, tried GEN1 but made no difference.  I've tried everything I can think of but it just won't work.

I think I'll return it and get a different GPU since I know that all of my other cards are working fine on the same riser.  Plus I don't like the fact that I have to provide 2 power feeds to the FTW model and the other cards I use only need 1 power feed.
