Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I'm sorry to hear that, unfortunately there isn't much people here can do without his or her profile, are you sure your partner doesn't remember it?

I'd also consider leaving a warning about this in the CET thread. I'm sure this won't be the last time he uses that email address scam with.
