Bitcoin is a relativity new, geek heavy technology.  As a result, many users that have the skill to mine also have the skills to develop new services.  I'm curious how many people on this forum are actually developing the technology versus how many people are just using it.

Feel free to post your project and explain how it is different than what is already out there.

I'm running gambling site (kind of) with bitcoins, one thing that makes huge difference - it's so freaking easy to start accepting bitcoins - no banks, no payment systems, no third parties, no legal agreements, you just run your software and take payments from people all over the world. One may said, that you could use paypal (or other systems), but, you know, paypal is not working so well everywhere, for instance you can't withdraw money from paypal to your bank in Russia, Ukraine, Andorra, and they ban people from time to time. With bitcoins you cannot be banned by someone.

BTW you're asking this in the development & technical discussion forum, what outcome did you expect for you poll?

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

He expected that most people just talk about technology and development here but don't develop anything. 80% of talkers is what I expected to see.

Moreover, the forum seems to be "development of bitcoin", but not "development for bitcoin". For example, internals of exchanges are not discussed here.

Interesting poll so far.  For every current program/service we have, 3 more are in the works.  This bodes well for the future!  Smiley
