I have some altcoins in my Bittrex account. However, they are in my Bittrex wallet. I would like to create an offline wallet for Bittrex for safety. Is it possible? Can someone tell me the process?

Are you asking if its possible to create an offline wallet in your bittrex account? Then No that would be impossible. Bittrex is a trading platform so it shouldn't be treated as a wallet. Sure there's a wallet for every coin there but it is for the sole purpose of "trading" which is the service they provide.

Now if you want to secure your coins as it seems like you're going for a long term holding, you should buy a hardware wallet such as ledger or trezor and store your coins there.

If a certain altcoin is not supported, I'm sure there's a desktop wallet of it which you can use. Just always maintain a clean PC.

Potato Chips, thank you very much for your response.

Two questions:

1) So are you saying that there is no way to do an offline paper wallet like Coinbase offers?

2) If I buy a desktop wallet for my PC, can I put it on a flash drive and erase from my desktop so that even if my desktop is hacked I am safe?

Thanks.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

I didn't know that coinbase offer an offline wallet, but even if they did I will not recommend using it the same as their exchange site.

You can't buy a desktop wallet, it's just a secured wallet(software) installed on your PC.

Considering you're talking about buying hardware wallet. Even if you have an infected PC you can use this HW safely coz HW can't be infected with malware. Just make sure that you will never share the 24-word recovery phrase which will be your backup, save it on a safe place offline for your own good else your funds on your HW can be compromised.

No you cannot. Bittrex is an online exchange, it's not even designed for holding funds for the user. There is no way that you're going to be able to create an offline wallet, when you don't even have the ability to create and control your addresses.

If you need an offline/hardware wallet, either use trezor or ledger. They both have multi coin support.

However they do cost money and they don't ship to particular countries, so you have two more options. Either create paper wallets and store your private keys offline for every one of your coin holdings, or just download exodus which is trusted by many people to store multiple tens of thousands worth of cryptos.

Depends on your needs really, these are my suggestions. Hope they helped!

A multicoin wallet could be your solution, if you have an android phone. You could use Coinomi and make a backup with your seed or just export private keys for your paper wallet of all coins. But backup via seed would be the easiest way.

Yes. Don't even treat them as an wallet, don't store that much.

Desktop wallets are downloadable for free, hardware wallets are the ones that has price. To make this easy, just buy trezor or nano ledger s and you'll be safe from every hacker just buy directly to the manufacturer or verified retailers. https://www.ledgerwallet.com/retailers

For bitcoin and few alts like litecoin always use trezor like hardware wallets or if you can't get hardware wallet use paper wallet printed in offline environment.

For other alts use their individual wallets (not their web wallets). Never trust any exchange and web wallets with your coins. You should be the only one who have access to your coins.
