What is the best miner able to mine script coins? Do I have to use GPUs or is there a more efficient miner like ASIC that one can use to mine script coins?
I know that Bitcoin is a better way to go, but with he difficulty level and astronomical process of the ASIC miners there is no chance in hell to get any returns.

scrypt coins are cpu/gpu only at the min right now you can make a lot more money mining altcoins

At this point there are no special purpose devices (FPGAs or ASICs) for Scrypt based coins. CPU mining is in theory possible but the difficulty makes that an excercise in utility. If you already have a decent AMD GPU and cheap (<$0.10) power you likely can earn some coins by mining however difficulty on most alt-coins is going up as GPU miners are "forced out" of Bitcoin so I would not recommend buying a new GPU unless you have other uses for it (gaming) as you may never see a profit.

Thank you for the info Is there a way to compare difficulty vs. price to pick the most promising alternate crypto currency? What is the most popular alternate crypto currency today? How can I find out reliable detail without relying on "she said he said" chatter?

This will help you compare the options. http://www.coinchoose.com/litecoin.phpRemember it is constantly changing as difficulty and prices change. Litecoin is the king of the alt-coins (which doesn't mean much IMHO) nobody else is even close. Understand alt-coin markets are often thin and pumped. Just because coinchoose says xyz Coin is 200% the return of LTC it doesn't mean you will get 200% unless you can mine at the rate it assumes (not too many orphans) and the market is deep enough to buy all your coins without the price slipping. Go in with your eyes wide open. If Bitcoin is the wild west the alt-coins are a penal island where anything goes.

I did not expect to see that many crypto currencies! Thank you for the link, amazing website.
As I expected the script coins seem to be on the top of the profitability lists. I will have to research further to see if there is any merit in mining script coins.

As someone else said, you can use GPUs for scrypt mining, but you can also use CPUs with cpuminer.

What would be a best case scenario for a CPU mining? If we use the newest generation processor, are we talking KH/s, MH/s or GH/s? Is there a performance difference between Intel and AMD like in the GPUs?

We're talking KH/s. Just from my own experience:
Intel Core i3 @ 3.2GHz gets me around 28 kH/s AMD A8 5600K @ 3.6GHz (technically it's an APU, not a CPU) gets around 36 to 38 kH/s.
As you can see, it's not a lot, but there are more powerful CPUs available. CPU mining is only profitable for alt-coins, and even then, you'd most likely be better off with a GPU.
I still mine some alt-coins with CPUs because I already I have the CPUs, but I wouldn't buy a CPU just for this.

This is not good, my i7 can gets only 47kH/s, when my old video card gets 79MH/s. No CPU mining for me

So FPGA = SCRYPT and others value coins??? ASIC = SHA-256,512??? I'm idiot i think!!! I dont have interest for video card. I want miner specialization on MINING CRYPTO Currency(sha256,scrypt-jane etc.)... I know about Rocky Mountain but its only 3,2MH/s...I need 1TH/s and more... THX 4 ALL INFO Have a nice DAY(:

Hello , for my sake i created this tool , it's useful & easy to use , hope you enjoy it
Feature : Copy to Cgminer folder , this tool allow you change the mining coin by one click , for all workers
You see demo here : youtube.com/watch?v=z4fYBXhwlnQ&feature=youtu.be
- How to use ? --> Copy into Cgminer folder of every pc --> Config --> Add some Coin Type
I hope you can test it so i can improve it some way
Thanks very much

Check out this site. I found it helpful when i made a few rigs for LTC. Hope it helps. http://www.coinminingrigs.com/

Would buying a VPS and mining over it (CPU) be able to cover its costs and then some?
EDIT: If so, which coin?
