What is merit system ?

Hello guys , today I just saw a new function named as merit. I have few questions.

1. From when it is started counting ? Because I am seeing many high profile have already many merits point.

2. I am not getting any option to give some one merit score. Where is the button ? I am using from mobile

3. What is the way to increase merit score. I am not getting I have zero merit although I am not getting the formula.

Senior or legendary member please help. Thank you.

2. Probably users without merit score won't be able to see the Merit button and it will appear once you accumulated some

3. We can get merit from other users that think our posts is high quality or really helpful to the community, in this way spammers/low quality posters will not be able to rank up and join signature campaign

1) It  started on 24-1-18. Higher levels members have got some merit points by default as per their membership levels. There are some merit sources as well who can give as many sendable merits as they want.

2) This is because Jr Member have no merit in beginning.

3. You can increase it by making meaningful posts. When a member with some merit points notices this, he will send you some merit.

It is a new requirement to go further to a higher rank. e.g. if you need to get member, you at least need 10 merit points, if you are about to become full member you need 100 then. So it’s a real incentive to post something useful or that could be appreciated by others. Furthermore, you can contribute people with a limited amount of merit. Probably you can spend 0.5 for each 1 you receive

Ok I got you. But then who has merit ,can send merit. Right ? Is the number of "Giving Merits" enough to merit all quality post , assuming this is hard matrix. I know it will increase the quality of the forum. But in the meantime many people will last behind with quality post or will suffer. But I saw thymos just made this solution too. That's great. But I think there merit system is like Bitcoin.

Like Bitcoin because it's just disbursed centrally (like miners mined) and they just sell to the market. Nice thought although. Here the merit points is centrally gathered and distributed among the good post. Good thinking.

I think this was a very much needed feature here as some members were just posting responses to increase post count and increase membership levels. Now members will make meaningful and to the point posts so as to get attention of members with sendable merits.

No. You would know that if you would have read.

tl;dr explanation as long as there is no infographic:

You have Merits, those you cannot send.
You also have sMerits, those you can only send, they have no other purpose.

When someone gives Merit to you they lose sMerit of the amount transfered and you gain Merit as well as sMerit (which in case you can send again).

Example: Should I send 10 Merit to you for a post, my sMerit would decrease by 10.
Your Merit would increase by 10 and your sMerit would increase by 5.


Merits are exclusively earned, but the sMerit part you also get keeps the circulation flowing.

(Ignoring merit sources here, for the sake of making an easy example.)

Grammar has nothing to do with content quality and you can always improve your grammar.

Merit System is like scoring point wherein one user give one point to another user for a quality answer or a useful posts or reply, each of  need to earn merit as soon as possible by following the required procedure, merits is used to rank up, newbies and Jr. Member doesn't require merit to rank up, but starting Member and up you need to earn it.
