Is it possible to offer to exchange "merit" in the topics of posts-This will not be a violation of the rules? If possible, let's try to do this?)  Roll Eyes

The main purpose the system is to encourage users to make meaningful and constructive posts. What's more important is it makes it harder for broken-english(like yourself) shitposters to rank up.
And here you are trying to find ways to exploit the system to the point where you're basically begging for merit points.

I agree about encouraging meaningful and constructive posts. However, shittalking people who's english capabilities are below average is a punch below the belt. Be better than that.

If your english is not sufficient then don't post in the english sections.
People who understand english are getting tired of copied/translated nonsense posts.

They don't post in the french section writing broken french either right?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

In my opinion, this new rules is really helpful for Bitcointalk forum.
It will reduce the emergence of spam and shitpost but merit for newbie might not be friendly, because when they just know block chain and BTC, they difficult to make high quality reply. And the new rules still have a lot of problems. Does anyone give merit to others?Even if I make a high-quality response.

I do too. I think it's good since the purpose of the new rules is to actually urge people to post better contents in threads or through their replies. However, I am just unsure of the merit aspect being given by users; I don't know about other people, but I have noticed in my months of posting here that many people don't give much attention to the replies or posts of other people, therefore, since the merit system is based on the person appreciating a content, and giving justice to it by giving a merit point, would be difficult to achieve because not very many would even check on the contents of the posts they see, more so spend the time to actually give merits for it. I am just hoping that ranking up wouldn't become so difficult because of the indifference in giving merits some people may do.

Are you the one to decide who copy/translates, and who has writing disabilities etc.? I agree in doing your outmost to write quality posts, but many people with hero/legendary status have broken english capabilities. Doesn't make their posts stupid or irrelevant if the thoughts are good.
And about writing broken french in the french chat; we have a lot of Swedish and Norwegian people writing in broken Danish in the Scandinavian sektion. We forgive for their national handicap.

I would give you some Merit for that thought if I had any. Really good point.

The only difference I see is that it'll be much harder to get an upper rank, even if you're active enough. And I don't see how it can stop spamming on the forum. There'll be merit sellers and buyers, and I don't think it'll be easy to reveal them. And also mutual likes, will they be prohibited? So I would say, I'm not the fan of this new rule.

The intentions may be are good, and of course something must be done to stop spammers and shitposters.
But in this way the only result will be that who is already high ranks will keep his power (look how happy legendaries and hero members are) and the possibility to make profitable campaign; in the same times they take away to us the possibility to grow: I should have been promoted "member" next week, now I need 10 merit to achieve the same results, and I don't know how much time do I need. I don't want to think how long will take to become Full or Hero.
More over, only high rank have lot of merit to give, so we are at their mercy.

I like the idea, but I think that other methods to earn merits should be introduced.

Because of this rule of participants in altcoin bounty campaigns will be less?

I agree with the reward, as many shitposting are outstanding. Although there are still many people who do not understand how the system works, I am sure over time they will understand and I am sure this system is made for the good of the forum.

I think it should boost the quality of the posts but I also suppose you can rapidly raise your merit if you visit Off-topic and start writing "i hate aborts, I love God" at that freaks' threads. They'll give you tons of merit that way.  Grin

That's fine, all those those people can continue what they are doing. They just don't get rewarded for them, as they shouldn't.

I still try to deepen it, I think it has both sides of difference. but in essence, theymos wants the members in this forum to make good quality and compete each other. that's what I summarize from the post admin. the rest we will try a system of methods like this. hopefully this can make us better and qualified.

It's an interesting system I like it, but I think they need to consider that some merit sources might abuse their merit giving powers such as selling it or give it to their alt accts. Overall it's going to be hard to get promoted in the future for everyone given that merits are limited and some people will hoard for them for bragging rights.

I like this system very much, but malicious people can be use false. It is nice to register each process, but it needs to be tightly controlled.

There will be some specific users who are going to be merit sources.
Merit is trackable, so abuse would or could be noticed.

If hoarding will be a problem they will implement merit expiration.

Things are still a little bit unclear for me but this new rules about the ranks and additions of merit is a great idea to avoid people from creating multiple accounts and abuse those signature and bounty campaigns. i think exchange and begging for merits is against the rules but i dont know how admins and moderators will monitor those who abuse it. hopefully this new rules that are implemented will work well.
