Has merit system started to show positive benefits. I think spammers must have understood that it will take forever to reach higher levels and will stop creating new accounts. I tried to check the new registrations here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;start=0But get the error " Sorry, no matches were found (Viewing all members is temporarily disabled)". Can anyone confirm that merit system is showing positive effects ? |

I think it's much too soon to tell if the system has shown any positive or negative effects. It's only been out for two days, give it some time.

Op, i think it is too early to expect positive impacts from merit system particularly on the quality of members post. Although i can say categorically that one of the recent impact to those who have earned merits can be found in the recent @Yahoo62288 which differentiate payment to those who have merits and those who don't have merits. Probably you can find less spammers around here, but I see a lot of people complaining about Merit System so.. I don't know which situation is better tbh

I dont really know which meaning of the link you shown. However, the merit system might have both negative and possitive effects on users, both lower- and higher-class of users. The real problem is how long will it last? Organisms or human always find ways to adapt to new challenges, new changes, and part of them will survive for sure, smaller part of them will evolve over time to something or someone really really hard to imagine. They might move up to higher levels of spamming, cheating, etc. So, my question is "How long will possitive effects of merit system last?" |

Those that adapt to the system will create more constructive posts—that's a positive for the forum. Those that don't will stay at their rank. Simple natural selection. |

We can't say yet but I can see many people are keep on talking about merit system and I think everyone is starting to work now on this matter therefore quality poster will go around the forum and this a good thing so far. We still have more time to improved the system, and this is a great step towards the future.

And in my opinion, the merit system also has a negative impact, here's my personal opinion, at the moment my account has generated 158 posts
112 activities, and only has 10 merit
I need 90 more merit to be able to raise the rank, become a full member
I have tried to make a post that is really constructive, but has not gained the trust of people in my opinion
and I have to be patient about this

For starters try to improve your English buddy, until that happens people will struggle to read your posts and then not give them any merits because the English is broken. |

The effects of this merit system is yet to be find out. For now I think it's still on acceptance testing. I find this new system very challenging as there are slim chance of being given with merit so I really have to work hard for it. I hope that this merit system really serves its purpose of cleaning the forum.

The post quality (in my opinion) has dramatically increased around here since the new system was implemented. I’ve seen much less shitposting from people.
I think it’s a massive positive to be perfectly honest.

Be a classy member isn't hard as many people think. More we read and know in this forum, you can give arguments properly. And, with this Merit System, lazy people will kicked out. Me too. That is instant positive effects of merit system. However, as I discussed before at the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2825306.msg29231021#msg29231021The true, really big issue will occur after some weeks, some months when lower-ranked users move up to higher-ranked ones. At that time, will they need to keep writing high-quality, constructive threads? I don't think so, they will certainly lose their motivations. Once again, I would like to raise a question "How long will positive effects of merit system last?"~ Only time can answer the question above! |

I think merits have really positive effects to all users, especially to those have joined signature campaigns. Because they are pushed through to participate with quality post that may really help others to get info from them.

Merit system is expected to make a big change. In reality this takes time. We cannot expect change to happen in a much shorter time period. With this possibly soon or within stipulated time period users will create good quality posts.

Merit will create claims and counter claims about people trying to sell it for A profit. Its allready happend on here and will continue. In my opinion merits just creates problems for users. When I tried it out on my forums I used to run I ended up taking it off because I got sick of emails from users claiming other users were selling merits. It caused nothing but arguements amongst a lot of the users too.
