This is a regular question I see and 99.9% of the answer I see is HODL.

I agree generally but there are exceptions.  Here are a few and I hope others add what I missed.

1.  Coin is really bad you have to abandon it ASAP (see #2 also)
2.  There are better coins and you plan to re-invest (sell then buy another).
3.  If you foresee further dip (alt vs BTC or USD)
4.  If you flip and day trade (risky)

Hope this helps.  Good luck!!!

It's pointless to sell during a dip, unless you are forced to.
If you want to sell, wait few days for negative wave to gone. I have the habit to swap alts during dips.

it really depends on the specific coin, but generally I wait out market dips as they have always come back. There have been specific coins though where I have sold at a loss when I have much higher confidence in a different coin to either maintain its value during the rest of the decline or bounce back quicker, often based on the fundamentals of the project - but you should already be investing in coins with solid fundamentals to help avoid scams.

When I entered the cryptocurrency market, I determined from the start that I was a Holder, my job was to pick a few potential coins, buy a low price and forget about them. Of course, I also have to read and study a lot of the crypto that I invest in, and invest in value so I do not care about price fluctuations in the market. However, after a recent crash just before Christmas, I have a question: "If you are a long-term investor, stop loss before the crash is necessary?"

Necessary? NO.
Smart? YES.

Hard core HODLers don't care but a smart investor with some free time can take advantage of the dips.  Sell high buy low.

I will prefer HODL especially when at that time you aren't get some earnings from that coin. In fact it is proven and and on some experience too that when the coin get into the dip cycle it will bring back to some skyrocket price. But one thing too that if you know how dip would long then prefer to sell its on the hands of every individual. It is always a choice people make.

Actually this is all about timing. If you are too late to sell you HAVE TO hold.
But if you foresee future and sell before it's going down then you are good.
If you missed the selling opportunity there is no point selling them cheaper then.

I think it depends very much on which coin you are holding. If it is a new pumper-dumper, then it makes sense to sell when you see profits and cut your losses if it drops.

But - if your coin is one of those on poloniex which allow margin trading, you can make money by lending it out. For those coins, lend the coins out, make some more coins while you wait for the coin to recover. A sort of hold/lend strategy.

Holding a coin during the dip is still the best strategy especially if all the coins you bought are potential to grow in the long term. Dip or correction is just a part of every crypto or token because of  their volatility, and it will followed by uptrend later. Always choose the qualified coin if you want to put it in long term hodl and not the pump and dump type of coin or the so called shitcoins. What I do during the dip is to buy  some more potential coins because of their cheaper prices.

The best strategy is when the price of coin is decreasing you have to buy and hold your previous buy because with dips you can easily track the average price and start selling them in next pump.

If you're coins is lack of support and coordination from the management team or from the facilitators like creating projects and activities to counter the dumping that is happening then its about time to say goodbye, leave your coin and dump it too but if the team is making so much efforts in order to the coin to become more stable and strong to counter the dumping then it is better to hold and purchase more coins at the cheaper price to show them your appreciation for their hard works.

This is the most case by which many didn't know how to respond because of their own personal emotions.

1. I rather sell a coin if its not good for long term so it should be classified before to pick that coin or have plan to exit.
2. I go to other coins as well than taking that risk to make my money loss.
3. That depends on a coin what is currently at hodl.
4.  It depends in case scenarios.

Yes there are few exceptions to consider when holding the coins in times of correction. It depends of what you hold, Its not always the best solution if you are holding a coin that is likely to be a dead coin or delisted in major exchanges in the future. Ask yourself if its really worth it to hodl or it would be better to just cut your losses and invest to another.

You can just either create a stop loss mechanism depending on your risk appetite. if you think 1-5% is okay then just hodl, greater than 5% then get out before it slips further. I am just new into trading and i hope i am correct. hope we all make more this year!

I traded last night before going to sleep, it sucks that my projection didn't pan out when i wake up. Now I'm thinking if I will just hodl or get out and buy another hoping for a good rise by tomorrow. what do you think guys?

Its really not a good idea to sell during dip i prefer to hold my potential coins and waiting and hoping it will boom in the future. I am always  active as a community support in every coin that i have which is good for long term so that I can easily monitor any new updates from the team. I can proudly say that I am good holder and selling is my next thing during pump and buy more during dip.

Maybe we have to make decision on what coins we are holding. If you are holding the bitcoin then definitely we have to hold them because it has greater ability to bump in the future also.
But if other coins I will agree with the point 2.sell the coins and invest on other cheap coin with good potential.

You do not want to be a prey to whales, I'm sure you are very worried and I am too, but be calm because if you sell this then you are taking away your possessions and share it with others. The market will soon recover you do not worry too much.

I think HODL is valid for BTC and major altcoins. With minor altcoins I think SELL during dip is better. This kind of coins usually (not always) get a bigger dip than major ones or BTC. The problem I think is during recovery because while the dips are stronger for such altcoins, the recovery, if it happens, can be faster or slower than for the major ones. For this coins I think it's like betting.
One of the limitations of technical analysis is that the lower the market cap the more difficult it is to predict the movements of an asset since anything can make it move like crazy, so you can apply what you learned about trading in coins like bitcoin and ETH, but for coins with low market caps trading based on rumors and the news is way more effective.

Sell? buy? One in a thousand has an intuition and guesses the way. And the rest needs to sit down for textbooks and know how much you are willing to lose. Of course, strive for profit and learn.

Usually I start buying more when price goes down if I have possibility to do so. And than deeper the price goes, more I am trying to buy. If project is good analysed and I am confident about it for sure.
