I have a few years old motherboard and I'm building a 6 GPU mining rig. I need 16GB of DDR3 RAM and I found out that there is a special type of memory called reg ECC or Registered ECC memory.
Take a look at this German shop:
https://www.mindfactory.de/Hardware/Arbeitsspeicher+(RAM)/DDR3+Module.html/31/1154All shown RAMs are DDR3 and 16GB and they are sorted by price. The cheapest three are all regECC and they are 40 EUR cheaper than the cheapest normal RAM.
I learned that ECC is meant for servers but I couldn't find information if they work on normal motherboards. For example
WD Red hard drives are also meant for servers but you can you use them as normal storage drives on any motherboard.
Can someone confirm if regECC memory will work on normal motherboard?
