How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to get the BitCoin client to work for a few hours now.

It's been downloading all the blocks but seems to be sparatic.

It will not download any for a long time and then add 500 all at once.

I'm at 3200 now.

How long did it take everyone else to get them all downloaded?

It took a good 12 hours for me.  Sounds like you're getting sporadic connections to other nodes though.  Hopefully they will solidify on their own in the not-too-distant future.

If you haven't used your wallet yet you can use the http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/blockchain/ download to speed it up

Takes like an hour or two, just leave it running behind all your applications or turn it on when you go to sleep.

So once I have all the blocks I have a chance of solving an equation to get 50BC?

1-2 hours lol?

At the current rate the 15,000 blocks will take more like 15-30 hours.

To solve a block you must 'mine' for Bitcoins.
