Hello World,
I am very much lucky to be the part of the Bitcointalk family.
But i am just curious to know about that , How theymos and the rest developers/admins/owners earn from this forum !!! ?

Do they Take part in different signature campaigns etc ?!!

Or anyone knows the answer ?

P.S. If it is in the wrong section then please move it to the correct one Tongue

Cheers  Roll Eyes

Donations (the button right next to your profile button in the header) were keeping the forum alive in the first time.
Nowadays, most of the income the forum makes comes from the ad-auctions (forum ads shown between the first and second reply on each site).
Also, there's paid memberships (the copper members), but I suspect that only makes for a very small part.

tl;dr: Forum advertisements. No signature campaigns.

At the end of the day it's just a forum, there is not any type of salary or "contract" between the moderators and bitcointalk.org

One thing I wanted to know related to this is that is there a single owner of this forum ? Again, are some staff members being paid here as well. Also is there a way to apply for the staff positions ? Tried to search about this but could not find any link.

I've assumed they were talking about the people working on epochtalk (that's where the actual development is taking place, slowly).
Moderators/Staff and Developers are two different pair of shoes, although a single person can be in either of those groups (or in both), they souldn't be mixed up.

It's a pretty big forum nowadays and servers need to be paid. Then there's overhead like cloudflare and similar stuff.
On the other hand, the forum has a lot of reserves which are worth big amounts nowadays and the popularity of ICOs keeps the ad auctions going for big money.

Theymos is the defacto 'owner' or 'boss' of the forum, and is at least responsible for the day to day running of it and the finances and paying taxes etc. All active staff are paid in bitcoins but there's no salary per se. You can't really apply for staff positions either but the best way to become one is by reporting a lot of posts with a decent accuracy and if theymos feels you're needed he'll ask you.

I don't think he was talking about the new forum software "epochtalk", I think he was talking about this actual forum (bitcointalk.org)
