The extension stopped working both in Safari and Chrome. I did notice today, as I haven't logged on my desktop for a while. Apparently, there was an upgrade in Chromium that prevented it from working. IS anyone able to fix it? Nope, you have to switch to Firefox, Librewolf and similar forked browsers, or install older version of chrome browser. Maybe there is a chance of brave browser (fork of chrome) still working with extensions with manifest v2, but I didn't test this myself. Perfect time to stop using chrome.

This would require using Firefox on MacOs just for the forum. Might be worth it, but challenging. I will give it a try.

Apparently, there was an upgrade in Chromium that prevented it from working. IS anyone able to fix it? What extension do you mean? Tampermonkey? If yes, then it should already support Manifest V3[1]. I regularly use Tamperkonkey on Chrome and Safari, and both extensions stopped working simultaneously in both browsers. I checked all the settings, and apparently, all were set correctly. I now use them in Firefox, and everything is working correctly again.

I would suggest checking out Librewolf.net browser, it's a great fork of Firefox that follows all the recent updates, and removes all the crap and bloatware from Mozilla code. You won't notice the difference because it looks the same as Firefox. If you want to go step further with privacy than Mullvad browser is also good and they work with Tor project.

I have been using chrome for daily drive my entire life. Not sure whether I should switch to Firefox or not! Tried to run a script through tampermonkey, but it didn't work for some reasons. Recently saw a message saying, "this extension may not be supported" something similar! Btw, have you tried Bromite? forked version of chrome? I am pretty confused with which version should i choose. Couldn't find a Android version of librewolf! Only desktop supported?

It's weird the Tampermonkey extension itself stopped working, when it supposed to support Manifest V3 and available on Chrome Web Store without any warning[1]. Bromite haven't updated in almost 2 years[2]. Although Cromite (Bromite fork) receive regular updated[3]. Couldn't find a Android version of librewolf! Only desktop supported?
Yes, only desktop supported. But i've heard Mull[4] is a fork of Firefox mobile with better privacy, although i haven't tried it. Note that Tampermonkey extension is closed source, so you don't know what is happening under the hood, and I wouldn't use it myself. Violentmonkey is a good open source alternative, there is also Greasemonkey but I think that is only available for Firefox browser.

Great job Grue! A useful script for lazy guys. I hope lazy guys will not hesitate anymore to merit someone's post now and then or will be able to show another excuse.
Do the lazy guys even have enough merits ?

The fact that both extensions stopped working simultaneously on two different browsers rang more than a warning bell, but I couldn't get back to working again. Only when I installed Firefox did they go back to working everywhere. Honestly, I don't understand what happened.

Love this script. Made a small improvement to 1.3 where it says the reason why it failed to send merits. I was trying to merit someone and kept getting an error, turns out I hit the maximum of 50 merits sent to that user in the last month. Script 1.3.1: https://gist.github.com/ninjastic/c60954e3e35bf5b017f6d1dd06ccddf0

Great update TryNinja! I don't know if anyone else had this issue but for me it happens sometimes that large image in post covers the popup window, so I can't click Send merit button. This is not happening always, but maybe you can take a look and see if this can also be fixed in version 1.3.2

It’s a great incremental improvement. A new feature helping with the extension usability. I don't know if anyone else had this issue but for me it happens sometimes that large image in post covers the popup window, so I can't click Send merit button.
It never happened to me in my usage, across different platform and browser.

Nice improvement TryNinja and as just going through the source code and I came across this if(source_sMerit!=null && source_sMerit-merits>=0){ source_sMerit -= merits
My concern is what happens when the source_sMerit - merits == 0 since the logic is checking for when the source_sMerit != null and the difference between the source_sMerit - merits >= 0. If there are no merits won't it result in a bug? Just asking for clarity thanks.

If there are no merits won't it result in a bug? Just asking for clarity thanks. Can you clarify what would be wrong here? I can't see it. The variable "merits" is equal the amount you want to send. I will always be > 0. If you have source sMerits (not null), and that amount is greater than what you want to spent (merits). source_sMerits will be decreased by that amount, because you're only spending source sMerits. If you have source sMerits (not null), but that amount is less than what you want to spend (merits), it will zero the source_sMerits, because you are sendingthe last ones, and then decrease your regular sMerits with the difference. If you don't have enough source_sMerits or regular sMerits, an error will show up because the request will fail (insufficient sMerits).

Thank you for the clarity. I was thinking the logic will try sending null source_sMerits. I was a bit confused with the code. This prompted my question but with the explanation It is more clear and well understood. Most times this logic can be a bit tricky. I just wish source_merits allocation was bigger though but nothing can be done about that anyways
