Bitcoin E-commerce store

I'm thinking of opening an e-commerce store with a open cart back end that will accept bitcoins.
I'm not looking to use coinbase or other third party processors but I'd rather just accept the bitcoins myself.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions relating to my project?
