The market trend right now is getting tricky that makes people to decide which one could be a long term or short term investment. Do top 10 coins are actually best for short term, and buying those coins raging below $1 might be good for long term investment, you consider also their market volume to avoid from losing your money in the air. of course, the high volume coins have a huge chances of hitting in the market.

There are many promonising altcoins in cryptocurrency markets , but for me the best altcoin to invest is still the etherium. Because etherium is one of the altcoins that ICO is using and because of its directly payments in the investors. With its potential to grow day by day , etherium is next to bitcoin when it comes in gaining profits and for long term onvestments.

I think, any kind of altcoin, you should do some research first. otherwise it should be invested not on one altcoin, but on some altcoin with the allocation adjusted to the potential of each altcoin.

Try the Etherium but Be wise about your decision cause the Changing of price on crypto is unpredictable so you must focus to it. I think this year is worth investing in one of these alts:

- IOTA: this crypto currency is focused on machine to machine transactions.It is different from others because it is not based on a block chain.
- Monero: It tries to offer a secure, reliable and anonymous way to ensure maximum anonymity.

I would also think about it Ethereum Classic and Stellar.

In my opinion divide that money in to 2 different portfolio, firstly 50% of that money use for buy ETH and DASH, and then other 50% more use for buy token that just listed in the market that has good fundamental so you get cheap price and the price of that token has possibility to going up multiple, like Bitdegree, Utrust, Indahash, Covesting.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are probably tha safest bets, I think they will be leading cryptos for at least some time.
If you want to diversify, choosing the exact coin is up to you (after doing some solid research), but I think that in general DAG-based (IOTA, Byteball, Raiblocks ...) and privacy/anonymity oriented (Monero, Zcash, Verge, DeepOnion ...) cryptocurrencies have a high chance to do well this year.

Try to invest in the coin that has big potential, to be able to know that try to do your research or try to invest in the top 5 coins, because this coins has a big potential to increase its values. Like bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and etc.

My advise would be Ethereum. Last time I recommended ETH to my collage it was around 500 dollars. Ethereum is working on shifting from PoW to PoS.  Casper the ethereum's new consensus protocol is currently in testing phase which will give  ETH further pump after being implemented. I would also consider to invest in less popular altcoins like CyberMiles, SingularityNET and ArcBlock.
