Getting Invalid Return Address

Hello all,



I recently purchased from Bitcoin Cash and placed it in my Coinomi wallet and am attempting to use the ShapeShift app to convert it. However, when I enter my return address for my current Bitcoin Cash wallet I receive an "Invalid return address". I have tried using other wallets including my Etherium wallet from my Coinomi app and was able to enter those into ShapeShift just fine. I have used the "new address" feature on the Coinomi app for my Bitcoin Cash wallet and attempted to reset the address, however I still receive the "Invalid return address."

Have you tried converting your BCH address into a different format? You can use this tool: https://cashaddr.bitcoincash.org

And make sure your app is updated. Also, If the above method doesn't work, try using shapeshift's web version.

Have checked with the support team of shapeshift for this issue? I have checked about it just right now and I find the article in their blog itself. Please check that information in the below link.

I think feed per KB might be lesser than recommended.

I am not sure, what you try to do. Let us sumnarize, what you tried to explain.
You baught Bitcoin Cash. At purchase you gave your BCH address to recieve it. It seems, that the transfer was successful.
Then you tried to "convert" your BCH to ETH. You can't transfer but exchange.
What did you do at this step?
If you clicked on the shapeshift button, you should see on the left site the currencies, you wanted to send and right site, you wanted to recieve. If you did right, you clicked on the left site on BCH and on the right site on ETH.
Did you get at this step the error message or when appeared the message?

Did you tried to use the changelly instead honestly i stop using shapeshift because changelly can gives you less fee when converting coins and changelly can gives you good rate..
Also make sure that you coinomi app is updated and install the verified by google appstore not the apps from other website which is mostly fake and scam..

If changelly didn't solve your issue i think the other alternative is to export your bitcoin cash private key and import it in official wallet like electron cash wallet and use exchages for converting your bitcoin cash into other altcoin..

Same suggestion which Op should consider to try changelly and might able to resolve problem and in regards with fees then its really much lesser to Shapeshift. Its quiet odd that they don't recognize the return address.Just make sure that the app is updated just like what others said here and also try out on what Potato chips regarding on that tool and might resolve the issue. If not then contact shapeshift support itself.

Hi, the answer for this for anyone else searching is this website... I was just in chat on Shapeshift.io and was asked if my BCH address started with a "q" (it does) and was then told to use this tool to create a LEGACY address and then use that for the Shapeshift transaction...
