I remember using vBulletin a few years ago in software/domain development related fields.
The system is robust, customizable and you can add loads of features to it. I assume they maintained the upper hand after these years.

I know SM forums were very limited at the time (even for the forums I managed) because it was free and anyone who was serios in creating a community always used vBulletin. It was a no brainer.

Have any of the admins/mods looked into this already? Or should I research it and creat a post with pros & cons?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

It wouldn't make much sense to do this right now as Epochtalk is being written from scratch. Theymo's could've done that years ago by just buying a vBulletin license.

To be honest, when I joined the forum I was amazed it wasn't vBulletin and that's why I asked.

Epochtalk seems like an interesting project. Is there a plan to use this instead of the current SM forum?

Of course, Epochtalk was made so Bitcointalk could use a better forum software than the current SMF, read here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=523070.0. Bitcointalk on Epochtalk preview is already live in beta.bitcointalk.org. I believe we're just a few steps away from fully migrating to Epochtalk.

Cool! I though this wasn't a project dedicated to BCT.

It's nice to see that new software is created and fully customizable for BCT.
