I have always thought of this until i came across this write up with the title "Ethereum now just 80 billion away overtaking Bitcoin." It is important to note that ethereum overtaking bitcoin does not reduce the potency of bitcoin and its unique qualities. It is just that ethereum with its capability of smart contract feature has made it a beautiful bride for the ICOs. Coupled with the clear contrast in the cost of transfer fees between these two cryptocurrencies. Take little time off and read this, you may begin to think just like i am thinking now. https://www.trustnodes.com/2018/01/27/ethereum-now-just-80-billion-away-overtaking-bitcoin

Before i talk about OP i would just like to say that asking for merit isn't the way to achieve it..
About ethereum, im not sure that it will take over market cap wise... I'm pretty sure price wise bitcoin will still remain the king and the most expensive crypto currency. One thing that i strongly believe though is that percentage wise ethereum will rise more than bitcoin, so taking that into account, investing into ethereum instead of bitcoin should give the best returns at the end of the year imo.

Ethereum is not going to take over Bitcoin, it getting more expensive to get though. X2, Merits should be earned, not given as sympathy.

Eth can be like btc but in value i think they can run with good same benefits at all so there's no need to compare it.Obviuosly they run coin to be like btc but still it's already good now in many ways like transaction and wallet so we already use it by that knowledge,I think more good to do here are study all different kinds of coins so you can earn by all of that in the future.

Eth seems dedicated to solving the issues we bitch about with btc. There are concerns when the developer makes statements about the coins safety, that is one of the things that will kill a crypto is any hack. Not saying it will happen just looking at all sides. If we start hearing a lot of rumors about companies gearing up to accept eth, I don't know if it will beat btc but it will give it a run for its money

You can compare Bitcoin with OS DOS and Ether with Windows. The DOS system appeared on the market first and in many respects it helped to popularize the computer. However, it was widely distributed only with the advent of Windows. The first system was difficult to comprehend by ordinary users. While the next option was much easier. In addition, its structure encouraged the introduction of various applications. The ethereum in this respect is very similar to Windows, therefore thousands of applications have already been developed on its basis. New companies are constantly emerging, using innovative business solutions, for which special methods are created. Most projects are defeated, but among them you can find "genuine pearls", which will become the next generation of new Google or e-Bay. Creator Bitcoin, no doubt, earned respect and honor for stability, as well as the immutability of the system he developed. But this currency is increasingly becoming an elitist product, access to which is available only for a relatively small group of people who can afford to pay a large commission for each transaction. And a similar path leads to a technical impasse.

ETH can be indefinitely mined, so that might make for some weird pricing in the long-run.
Just something to keep in mind.

Ethereum will definitely overcome Bitcoin by its market cap, but I'm not sure it will be by the end of this year. The Bitcoin transaction fees are much bigger compared to Ethereum ones, taking this into consideration, people will be slowly losing interest in Bitcoin and looking for alternatives. Bitcoin Cash has made one solution, which will surely be a competitor to Ethereum one day.

ETH will overcome BTC in market cap for sure, in the price itself - definitely no. The growth of ETH has been really exceptional, i don't even consider it an alt anymore, since it has more uses then even the BTC itself.

Eth did very well recently but I don't think it continues with such rhythm till the point of overtaking the market . Yes it has awesome features that can lead it to the leadership of the cryptocurrencies but I think we ought not to excessively underestimate BTC ( which keeps the first place since the birth of cryptos ) .

Thanks. Ethereum is not bitcoin and bitcoin is not ethereum, the overtake of ethereum to the bitcoin doesn't mean a lot, it may only change the structure of number one position that has been filled by ethereum. But as long as the bitcoin still alive and i believe that bitcoin still keep the domination to another crypto rather than ethereum.

ETH have great potential but I do not think what OP said will happen this year. There is still lots of things that needed to be fixed in ETH. Currently, it have the same scaling problem bitcoin has as shown to us by cryptokitties. ICO is a good point but there is also emerging platform that caters ICO like waves and NEM, so ETH will have a good competition on that part. Maybe someday this will happen but saying it will happen this year is a stretch.

It might actually get a huge price this year. It will be known as an event that will make a lot of people a bunch of Bits.

ETH will catch BTC by cap eventually but no so fast because BTC is in dip right now and ETH is rather high, just made ATH a couple of weeks ago

There is possibility, now its all depend on the lightning network, if the lightning network could succeed then it will be more difficult for eth to replace bitcoin, but if the developer keep on postponed it, then eth could easily take bitcoin place

Seeing as etheruem was $10 a year ago and it is over $1200 today....you can do the math, it's like 9000% gains. Bitcoin was $1800 in June and hit about $20k around November. If the grown levels and current prices are any indicator, ethereum may indeed hit $10k while bitcoin stays and hovers at its current price.

ETH will not overtake BTC in 2018, if ever. Even though it may make significant gains and strides, I believe competition and pull from other Alts will prevent ETH from taking the top spot.

It is important to note that ethereum overtaking bitcoin does not reduce the potency of bitcoin and its unique qualities.
You need to emphasize this that only the market cap of ETH will overtake bitcoin IF people will keep on buying ETH but at the end of the year? Still no one can accurately say that it's very possible. I will appreciate if i can get your very important merit donation. Thanks. If your post is high quality and people find it helpful, you don't have to ask this. People who find your post informative will do it automatically.
