I think everyone probably already knows this...

I recently bought a few risers. They uses the 6pin connector. It comes with the sata power cable. I realised that 2 of my cards keep hanging causing the whole rig to reboot or hang. Hard to troubleshoot as its random and happens between 6-12hrs. Turns out that the sata power connector was running extremely hot! Cables are ok but its the connector. Guess it was poorly made.

I cut off the connector and reconnect using those screw type power joints ( those whote colpir stuff for you to join power cables). Tested it for 32hrs straight and no problems.

If you are having stability problems, you may want to feel around to see if any power cables or connectors are running hot.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

They are not rated to pull as much power that could potentially come through the riser (75 watts).  While you may run fine for a day, week or year it can happen at any time where the riser for whatever reasons pulls more power than normal through your SATA connection causing it to melt or worse catch fire.  Please dont use SATA for mining rigs.
