What its gonna be after monarch upgrade ? I have a feeling they show new things they never ship , just keep on upgrading things and give you lil hope and keep your money forever.

Read below

We're excited to announce our 4th-generation bitcoin miner, the 28nm Monarch BPU. The Monarch is our 2nd-generation bitcoin ASIC chip design. Our first generation 65nm chip has allowed us to develop new simulation models that should be far more accurate in power and performance predictions, as well as allowing us to optimize the new generation for better power efficiency & performance gains that would otherwise not be possible. We're very pleased with the results.

Speed:  600GH/s   Power:  350W   Price:  $4,680.00

Can I change my order to a Monarch?  Huh

With the announcement of our new generation miner, we've received requests from customers interested in transferring their 65nm order over into a 28nm Monarch. Although the Monarch is still in development and won't begin shipping until the end of the year, we understand it may serve longer term mining strategies to jump order queues. If that's your desire, we're happy to accommodate.

Do I qualify?

If you have an end-user product, such as a Jalapeno, Little Single, Single, Mini Rig, 5GH/s, 25GH/s, or 50GH/s bitcoin miner in the production queue, you by default have the option to transfer and use the purchase price of your order towards the purchase of a Monarch. Transfers are charged a 10% restocking fee unless you're an original customer who's been waiting the longest. (Orders prior to April 1st.)

To transfer, log into your account dashboard and click on the transfer button next to the order you'd like to convert. Please note that although orders cannot be combined, multiple products in the same order can be used together.

In the event that your transfer results in credit for you, we'll count that as in-store credit that can be used in any future order you would like to place.

I'm not sure I'm interested. Should I be?

This is a question of mining strategy and is a personal decision. As a hardware manufacturer, BFL only guarantees the performance of our products, not the market conditions of their use. This makes it hard to give advice on mining strategy.

Having said that, the increased GH performance per dollar and reduced power consumption make the Monarch a perfectly optimized tool for enduring a highly competitive mining market where power consumption becomes the decisive factor in profitability. 28nm is the current state of the art in technology. Its two nodes more advanced than 65nm, so the performance increase from our prior generation is dramatic.

However, now that we're at 28nm with a 2nd generation optimized design, there are no foreseeable future technologies that can threaten the performance with a similar leap in performance as 1st-gen to 2nd-gen ASIC. This gives your investment a long window on mining viability.

The counter argument is that the Monarch is still in development and won't start shipping until December. The 65nm products shipping now have a good ROI as of this writing. Market conditions are changing of course, but an increasing BTC price extends the life of all mining hardware. There is great value in taking delivery of your 65nm now.

We're happy to be able to offer you the option, but the decision isn't an easy one. Should you decide to make the jump, log into your account dashboard and click the 'transfer' button to get an early spot in the queue.

They can't ship what they haven't even designed. This is vaporware there is just a hope and prayer by BFL to sucker more money out of people. Nothing. Zero. You might want to read BFL forums for more posts like these. Very possible this is the worst investment into bitcoin mining hardware you can make at the moment given what you are able to read right in the BFL forums. You have been warned.

Red face Refund Requested
Well I requested my refund last week. I received notification from Jody at BFL today stating that they will not refund my order in direct contradiction to the FTC 30 Day Policy. they continue to believe that as long as they are shipping we do not deserve a refund. So the Warrant of Debt will be filed for $25,000 tomorrow.

Some of the research that my lawyer did shows that the companies legal documentation for their corporation is delinquent. To him this indicates that the company likely realizes there is a problem and may be preparing for bankruptcy. Obviously this is speculation, but gives concern that they may feel lawsuits will take longer than they will be in business.

I'll let you all know how the process proceeds. I was patient waiting for the device, but am not longer. I'll turn my patients towards the legal process. If they stay in business, and I hope they do, it will cost them. I look forward to our day in court. It would have been so much easier to pay the $4,048 cost. Instead I have plenty in store.

LOL how can they call it a 10% restocking fee for a pre-order that you never received.

They are going to take your product that does not yet exist, put it back onto the shelf that it never came off of, and charge you a quite reasonable 10% for the heavy lifting and logistics involved.

I don't think anyone should buy it either but showing a projection at just short of 1 exahash in Jan 2015 is just silly.  With free hardware and 0.5 J/GH you would lose money mining at that difficulty.

Yup... our friends at genesis block need to shore up that metric... or use something more inline with your electricity break even metric.

Either way. The hardware required to hook up these PCIe cards is going to be very expensive and inefficient compared to other systems and the power at the wall is going to be much higher than 350W.

I really like this calculator http://btcinvest.net/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.php. It seems better than the genesis block, just simply due to the fact that you can slow the rate of increase over time. It also calculates based on each difficulty jump, rather than a standard monthly rate of increase. It is still not 100% accurate, but it is better than the genesis block mining calculator.

I agree.  You should make a realistic growth rate at that level and work backward, kind of like: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/8ef786093d  You'd get a much clearer picture than expecting every miner on the planet to have 1PH by Dec 2014.

There is a thread discussing Monarch profitability in the speculation section:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=285069.0

If you pick optimistic numbers... like the exponential growth rate only continues until next February and BFL miraculously delivers on in 2013 (a first), the Monarch would earn 23 BTC in 2014 (and 3 or 4 if you extend this shaky model out to 2015).  And that is with linear growth, not exponential growth after Feb 2014.  If they deliver on March 1st, it looks like 12 BTC in the remainder of 2013 and again 3 or 4 in 2015).
