1月24日，匿名网友发布Tether报告表示，USDT与BTC价格变动之间有很强的相关性。报告中显示，1、Tether的发行使市场有明显的波动，在2017年3月到2018年1月的调查期间，Tether共发行91次，而48.8%的BTC价格上涨发生在USDT发行后两小时；2、Bitfinex提款/存款行为可疑，将会引起进一步的调查；3、研究人员认为，如果Tether的可疑行为被证实，或将引起BTC价格30%-80%的暴跌。报告最后指出，经过调查研究显示，Tether有可能是受到人为控制的方式在运行，需要受到更进一步的审查；另外，还要求他们公布其业务操作和更多信息，证明每一枚USDT背后都有一美元为支撑。
