Lots of electricity means lots of coal burned.
So shall we go towards green energy ?

Bitcoin mining surely it affects the environment, it cause a lot of our power resources read about this articles https://futurism.com/hidden-cost-bitcoin-our-environment/ and also this http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/07/technology/bitcoin-energy-environment/index.html.
Bitcoin miners would also invest in saving electricity using renewable power resources such as solar power.

Maybe it affects the environment in a good manner. In the search of cheap electricity, the miners may invest in clean and renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines.

Usually the bitcoin miners used a lot of electricity to run their mining equipments and this may contribute to high demand in the power consumption and more fossil fuels needed to supply for the power generation thus creating
more pollution to the environment. However if the country of origin for the bitcoin miners were using the renewable source of energy, then that may seem not a problem at all. To reduce pollution that cause harm to the environment, all countries should abide to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels instead use the renewable energy
applicable for their use.

This is the detriment of bitcoin mining and other altcoins that result from consuming a lot of power in the mining process. Now to solve this problem, I find that a lot of bitcoin mining farms use renewable energy sources to exploit it to reduce the amount of electricity that helps protect the environment, which is a good move. It should be widespread among miners to both profit and not harm the world environment.

When electricity is extremely cheap in certain countries it's very unlikely that they would be willing to invest the initial money to build and house this renewable energy. Wind turbines are expensive and depending on the size has a few years before it starts paying itself off, at which point mining may not be feasible to a lot of miners.

Renewable energy is only appealing to those with big mining operations and are in it for the long term. The good thing with using electricity instead of wind turbines for example is that it can be cut off any time that you want to quit mining.

Can be summed up in mineral resources (i.e., power generation using hardware and raw materials used), the circulation of social resources (such as packaging, waste, etc.), compared with the former to the destruction of the environment, the largest carbon dioxide emissions, will affect the local even the local climate and ecology.

Yes, bitcoin mining is considered to contribute the electrical power consumption to get high because it's machines and other ancillary equipment really consumes great amount of electricity which anyhow result to more fuels being used to generate more power to supply the requirement. The more fuel used then the more pollution it will emit to the environment therefore countries should look for alternative sources of energy that cannot cause harm to the environment and helping mother earth to reduce pollution.

The cost of mining money using cryptocurrencies is indeed very high. It is also a waste of resources. If we use renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy, the impact on the environment may not be so great.

yes very bad impact on the environment if using electricity from coal resources or fuel that can cause pollution. but today many alternative power sources gogreen like solar electricity, water and wind.

It affects the environment because bitcoin mining requires electricity, after bitcoin mining in Sichuan, China, because of its abundant power and low cost, but it has caused a lot of damage to the environment and has drawn the attention of the government, but we can improve our mining Technology, such as the use of renewable energy, green energy, economic development can not be at the expense of environmental damage...

I kind of see what you are getting at... and I agree.

There is no way that crypto will be allowed to consume so much electricity.

There will eventually be a world wide consortium introduced to ensure that:

1) Crypto is only mined using clean energy
2) Crypto is taxed to offset its carbon footprint

I think mining should be done right where there is no electricity in some places. We use the cheaper price for mining and do the best we can, which is not wasteful. If no one uses it, Still have to use. And mining this industry is impossible to eliminate, as long as there are new coins appear, mining more than.

Maybe it affects the environment in a good manner. In the search of cheap electricity, the miners may invest in clean and renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines.

Some major ones are already making the switch, but for the most part, investing in renewable energy is quite expensive. It makes more sense for majority of the miners to run their operations in areas where electricity is cheap.

Either way, renewable energy technology is in rapid development and it will be very viable soon. I don't think Bitcoin's current energy consumption is big enough of a problem for regulators to take action, but hopefully miners will be able to make a switch before then. I personally don't think it's that big of an issue unless miners are operating in areas where energy is scarce, which they won't anyway because that usually means higher costs.

A large chunk of bitcoin mining is done in Northern China, in Inner Mongolia. People in that region built huge hydroelectric plants to fuel huge cities. but after the financial crisis, the cities were ghost towns with no-one living in them. Meanwhile they were generating huge quantities of electricity which was then wasted. Some miners made deals to buy this electricity at a discount.

There is no cost to the environment because those plants were already generating electricity and wasting it.

of course, that's why I think government have to cut off mining house electricity. btw there was already a start up (ICO) that intended to use green energy from sonar panel for mining. better not mention their company name LOL  Grin

The sheer amount of computing power and energy required to run the bitcoin economy means that the surging prices could literally be damaging our planet, experts have warned. And as the price of the cryptocurrency surges, that problem is likely to get worse. But that same computing power requires electricity to power it. And as the value of bitcoin surges, more and more people are looking to do that – directly contributing to huge amounts of demand for fossil fuels. As bitcoin grows, the calculations required of bitcoin mining machines get more complicated, so that they take longer to solve. That is intended as a protection on the amount of bitcoin in the world – but also means that the power demanded by computers is growing all the time.

The electricity is not generated with the coal alone , we do have various sources through which we can generate it without harming the environment , well there is renewable sources of energy which uses least input which is like a one time investment and after that, you can continue to have a lifelong supply of electricity generating no pollution.
One can implement and ask people to use renewable sources of energy that could be a solution.

Of course mining Bitcoin affects to the environment that why there are a lot of ICO projects related to green energy, they want to improve environment condition and provide green energy to the social but for now it's still not enough to provide to everyone all over the world. Beside to set up a green energy source is really expensive so it's still a really big problem that we need to care about Smiley

yes, of course bitcoin will have a negative impact on our environment, because the mining system continues to work. but I think the bad impact can be minimized with go green program. or other than electric power, can be with other power sources, such as waste power, and hydropower.
