Hey;

I have a one rig but was thinking that I also have an htpc and a main pc which are not used for 3/4th of the day, so I wondering of having them mine when they are not in use. Since I have personal info and also make purchases on them. Am concerned of increased vulnerability to hacking/malware if I mine on them. As Mining Software are flagged by antivirus software.

Thanks;

I wouldn't be concerned with that.  Mining software is flagged by AV, because malicious websites use code that allows them to mine with your computer while you are on their site, without you knowing it.

Of course it does.  You're putting software on your machine and you probably don't know what's in it, especially if you are downloading wallets for brand new coins.  Major coins and established mining software is much less of a concern.

Errrm, that is not why it's flagged.

It flagged because hackers put mining software inside their viruses so they can command and control your machine to mine for them.  What websites run has nothing to do with malware signatures.

If you're using mining software that isn't established and proven to be legit by the masses, you're a fucking idiot.  And if you're downloading legit mining software from sources other than the proven and established ones, you're a fucking idiot.

Legit mining software is flagged by AV ... Hmmm, I wonder why.  Lol.

Get it from a legit source, and you're fine.  And don't download wallets for shitcoins that you've done zero research on.  Jesus Christ people.

Honestly .... Mine on your mining rigs, not the pc that you use for everything else.  Trade on a computer that you use for nothing else as well. Generate private keys offline and keep them in a note book and on a thumb drive that you never plug into a pc that is connected to the internet, if you really want to be secure.

Maybe the person confidently answering the questions of others that mining software is flagged because web sites use javascript to mine shouldn't be going around calling others "fucking idiot"?  You apparently do wonder why it is flagged because you thought it was because of web sites mining.

It's really frustrating seeing so many "answers" on this forum being bad information.
