Just realized that it may be the stolen NEMs from the Japanese exchange. Then the culprit just converted them into bitcoin then transferred them to his own wallet? (this is just a theory)

The 40k btc are completely unrelated to NEM. Don't spread misinformation with your dump theories.
Also, the wallets holding the stolen XEMs have already been flagged, so any signs of movements from them, like selling using exchanges or transfering XEMs to another wallet, can be traced by the NEM team.

The commission does not matter, since there are already confirmations.

It is. However it's said there that it's "unable to decode output address". What is the meaning of that? Did the transferrer accidentally transferred it to a non-bitcoin address, purging 40k bitcoins in the process? Is that even possible?

No it is not a non-bitcoin address or invalid address.

It is segwit bech32 address which you will get from new electrum wallet, still many explorer can't support this address type. You have to click on Show scripts & coinbase at button side of blockchain.info explorer to see that address.

It looks like they've just moved their coins to a segwit address (the output address starts with a 3 which indicates segwit). Just some housekeeping here, nothing to see.

Omg, I never knew that someone would have such an amount of Bitcoin  at this time. Wait,  is this one of the early investors that started in 2009 or 2010 and has been saving all the Bitcoin he had then till now.  Maybe he bought them at cheaper rate,  if not,  then this may be a group of people investing together.  Damn,  that’s a huge amount of money.
