x1 Avalon Batch 1 to auction, but with my addition of an 860 watt OCZ AX PSU, confirmed to run the chips at 350 MHz (81.5 GH/s total).

Price begins at 60 BTC and DECREASES at a rate of 1 BTC per day.

THAT'S RIGHT, DECREASING PRICE. (aka Dutch auction) I figured this would only be fair in the current environment for difficulty increases.

Simply state "buying" or similar unambiguous, one word intent if you're happy with the price as it is. Any questions will not be interpreted as bids, feel free to ask whatever you fell you need to know. I understand escrow agents are over subscribed, but if anyone with a good rating is willing to step in, I'd be much obliged. Otherwise, BTC in full must be received before I will ship the unit. All original packaging has been kept carefully, so it will be travelling with the same shock protection that took it safely from China to the EU.

THE BIDDING BEGINS AT 60 BTC. I will update this thread (and the title) daily to state the current price level.

This depends on the events of the next 30 days. But I don't expect mass shipping from KNC, if that's what you're implying.

sadly they don't need to ship for difficulty to increase. it will be 75 minimum diff. on thursday..

It may be higher than that, but this is not the place for discussing difficulty adjustments, please stick to questions about the auction item and terms of the purchase agreement.

Interesting concept.  Is there an auction end time besides the fact that in 60 days it will be zero?

I won't be paying people 1 BTC and counting to take it from me after 60 days, let's just put it that way  Wink

Are you interested in future set bids.  For example 10BTC to ship in 30 days.  Which is basically your concept but starting at 40BTC which is closer to current in hand prices of .5BTC/Gh

Neither, I'm going to see how all factors play out. As mentioned already, I'm within my rights to withdraw the auction if I feel like it (unless someone shouts before I get the chance, I will honour any bid that pre-empts my withdrawal)

This would be a great idea if Difficulty weren't working against you. I'd go ahead and do a straight auction, as your sale price is decreasing by about 1.6% (from the original price) per day and difficulty is increasing by 2% - 2.5% each day. You're almost guarantee to lose out.

I know, the impending jump is batshit crazy. 100 million before October used to look wild, we're looking at that for the next adjustment now. On that note.....

47.5 BTC is where we're dropping from, 2.5 BTC decrements per day.

EU only really limits your potential customers.

However, I understand the hassle. Within EU there's no Import/Export, just shipping. Out of EU world of trouble for both buyer and seller (papers on seller, taxes and high shipping costs for buyer).

Shipping+escrow included?

It was summer when the overclocking firmware became available, and so I've not been running them at a permanent ~350 MHz chip clock, it would have been slightly too much fan noise.

Shipping included (assuming the price isn't too much of a "surprise"), and as far as escrow goes, I've not sought it. If the buyer can find an escrow I deem trustworthy, I'd be happy to use them (John K. is so obvious, but I don't want to have to be the n millionth person contacting him saying "we've not spoke before, will you be my escrowwww?"). Other wise, it's payment first and I'm the escrow (as per conditions in the OP)

Sad thing about Avalons are that are VERY power hungry. EU power rates are not like in the US... They kill your wallet! So I guess most people think that it's better to give circa $4080 and buy 30BTC right away than invest on a piece of hardware that will be nothing than an ugly brick within a year and its probabilities to ROI will be low. The auction is very interesting though just for the fun of it. I congratulate the OP for the great idea. Good luck selling it!

Thank you, macsga. The rapidly changing difficulty meant I was unable to come up with a starting price I was happy with, so when I was thinking it through I suddenly remembered the Dutch auction concept, and thought it to be a good fit for the dynamics I was struggling to reconcile. I could turn out to have been wrong, we will see!

So do we still make an offer now or wait until the price drops to something we feel its worth paying for ?
if offers are accepted i would like to make an offer of 18BTC but with the diff due to rise and shipment time (Dublin),
i would need to be hashing right away to see my investment returned within 3 months

You would have to wait until the time passes and the price comes down to 18BTC

Ok, we have hit a spot of interest. 3 people have contacted me by PM in pretty quick succession to accept the 22.5 BTC price. The first to contact has first refusal preference, so as long as me and that individual can work out the details, the auction might be over. I will confirm this once me and that person have worked it out, refusal then falls to the second bidder etc etc. If all 3 bidders bail out, we will continue the decrement tomorrow. (I'm confident this is unlikely, but I am cautiously optimistic)

Update: myself and the first bidder are working out the details at the moment, so the auction is suspended until both parties are happy and all is confirmed.

I will update again in a few days, either to confirm the auction is definitely finished, or to be resumed. Bear in mind that I still have 2 bidders in the queue at the price we have reached.

Please do not contact me or post in this thread to offer higher bids, that is not the accepted format of this auction. My thanks to all who have shown interest!
