Sad thing about Avalons are that are VERY power hungry. EU power rates are not like in the US... They kill your wallet! So I guess most people think that it's better to give circa $4080 and buy 30BTC right away than invest on a piece of hardware that will be nothing than an ugly brick within a year and its probabilities to ROI will be low. The auction is very interesting though just for the fun of it. I congratulate the OP for the great idea. Good luck selling it!

Thank you, macsga. The rapidly changing difficulty meant I was unable to come up with a starting price I was happy with, so when I was thinking it through I suddenly remembered the Dutch auction concept, and thought it to be a good fit for the dynamics I was struggling to reconcile. I could turn out to have been wrong, we will see!

So do we still make an offer now or wait until the price drops to something we feel its worth paying for ? if offers are accepted i would like to make an offer of 18BTC but with the diff due to rise and shipment time (Dublin), i would need to be hashing right away to see my investment returned within 3 months

You would have to wait until the time passes and the price comes down to 18 BTC

You would have to wait until the time passes and the price comes down to 18 BTCI think that is entirely up to the seller to take whatever offer is given to him.

Ok, we have hit a spot of interest. 3 people have contacted me by PM in pretty quick succession to accept the 22.5 BTC price. The first to contact has first refusal preference, so as long as me and that individual can work out the details, the auction might be over. I will confirm this once me and that person have worked it out, refusal then falls to the second bidder etc etc. If all 3 bidders bail out, we will continue the decrement tomorrow. (I'm confident this is unlikely, but I am cautiously optimistic)
