Would anyone mind providing some quick info on bitcoin alternatives, like litecoin? Are there things to be taken advantage of right now with those alternatives? Where can you find the current exchange rate? Does anyone see any potential in mining these alternatives?

Also, are there any small and reliable income opportunites besides mining bitcoin? Maybe some creative investment opportunities?

You can find information about litecoin by visiting this website: https://litecoin.org/

Also, you can find the current exchange rate by using: https://btc-e.com/

However, there is more information about altcoins within the forum. If you are looking for something specific about litecoin or another altcoin then use the search function. Unless you have any specific questions you would like to ask within this thread, I'm sure a few people would help you out by giving you the information you need.

There are always creative investment options, however, you really need to find out what interests you and seems like you will earn a income on that investment.

I personally, don't bother with any altcoins. However, I know a lot of people within the forum will give you information on why they like to mine & trade with certain altcoins. However, most altcoins are considered as a scam. So before investing in a certain altcoin try to read into detail about it. If you are still unsure, ask someone here at the forum.

Bountycoin is very big. It will probably replace the Bitcoin soon as major coin because it offers strong advantages.

As an expert, I highly recommend buying Bountycoin.

Here are some pages I use to decide on which alt-coin to mine, but it is first very smart to learn about the nature of each coin; several coins are pre-mined or tampered with. These pages tell what profitability of mining different coins vs BTC and LTC over different ranges (7 days, current) and is usually quite up-to-date. I recommend checking the charts to find an appropriate alt-coin.

http://www.coinchoose.com/

http://dustcoin.com/

http://www.wheretomine.com/

All have some good and poor features, but together, there is much to gain from the information. Good luck.

I don't think any currency will surpass Bitcoin, because it has the early movers advantage. Why would anyone use LTC when BTC is more commonly accepted?

It is often times more profitable for a miner to mine different coins and then exchange them into BTC, esp. for those that mine with a GPU opposed to an ASIC. Also, for some, exchanging currencies can be a very profitable endeavor. There is also the possibility that another coin might become accepted along side BTC, or even overtake it (although unlikely). Just a few reasons some people like to mess with alt-coins, such as LTC.

I also think that other currencies will not surpass BTC in value, but there is always the possibility. That does not make the other alt-coins have useless or of no value, obviously, so there clearly are other reasons one might have an interest in coins other than BTC.
