Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

For me still of ETH because the price ETH is good enough to my advantage despite increased diff. And AMD cards very excellent in ETHASH algorithm.

It is probably easiest to mine coins which use the Cryptonight algorithm, as others have suggested, Monero (XMR) or Bytecoin (BCN) are both good options which have grown in value considerable over the past year. If you choose to mine Monero, you can do what is called dual-mining (Mining two coins at the same time)

As for me, best coin to mine in 2018 are ETH and KRB. First one is relatively predictable and you can plan your mining business in advance. Karbo has very good perspectives in terms of price. So if you mine and hold you may have nice Xs later this year. It's still easy to mine with ordinary hardware.

For rx 470/480/570/580 its about 850-1000. KRB use cryptonight algorithms.

For me it is still ETH. But there are some perspective and altcoins like Ripple, which seem to be ok as a long term investment. Spend 200$ and if it matches specialist expectations, get up to 25.000 in 3 years.

I would love to hear an elegant formula for determining the best coins to mine.  Maybe we should build a simple calculator app?  I'll design it and crank out a creative website for it, if someone wants to build out the calculator!

Or you could just read and make your own judgments.

Ok, I want you to walk back in there and very calmly, very politely tell the risk assessors to fuck off! -Mark Baum
