Good Electric Guitars for newbs

What are some good electric guitars to get started with?  Best bang for buck.  Also which ones should be avoided?

I want to do some Megadeth, Metallica, Carcass, etc.

If you're brand new to playing guitar and you want a good, yet affordable guitar, check out the following: Yamaha Pacifica, Epiphone. Fender Stratocaster if you can afford it.

Don't buy shitty cheap guitars, or you're going to end up replacing it a lot sooner than you would with a normal guitar.
