Hard to say, since eth has the lower price you would say profit might be larger if you invest in eth.
To me bitcoin has the bigger status though, all follow bitcoin.

For the long term investment, bitcoin is still profitable than ethereum because as you can see ethereum just got pumped from hundred dollars to thousand dollar, which will not move for a short period of time, however, bitcoin dipped from as high as 15k-19k to 10-11k so when you invest on Bitcoin and it regain its price you can gain alot of profit.

For me, the best way to make profit from Crypto World is to trade with Tokens and small coins. Their price is very low, but jump very high - 5x or even 10x. Which, based on the investment could be a lot of money. BTC or ETH are bigger and they cannot have such a movement 5x. Yes, they had in December a big movement, but it was not 5x.

It is hard to say but overall, I'd probably pick Ethereum, just because it has a longer way to grow.
That said however, with the huge market dip we're seeing today there's a great opportunity to make good profits on Bitcoin too - when it recovers..

Right now everything is on sale so there's great profits to be made everywhere..

If you choose only from BTC, ETH, ETC.
Then I will choose BTC, because the price of BTC is now down by nearly 50%, so the potential upside is amazing.
If you want to make more profit, you can go to ICO.

I earn always in eth and btc like 30000 satoshi because it's often go down and up so you can invest in that but atleast you risk 0.015 btc in that because the earnings is base on your invest if it's big then your earnings is big also but if you invest only just a little then your earnings is only just a little.See the price now we can earn by it like convert your btc in fiat then convert fiat to btc.

ill go for bitcoin because it has long term investment and its the highest coin but maybe etherium will grow larger though.

For me bitcoin is the most profitable investment yet because it is most expensive crypto currency for nkw but the price of bitcoin when launched doesn't worth a penny so it mage a huge price growth in the 9 years from it was launched.So if someone invested on bitcoin at early stage then he got more profits now.
Ethereum also a gokd coin but the availability is not limited so the chance of price getting bumped like bitcoin is very low.

if it is big profit with lower risk you seek then invest in bitcoin.
if it is small profit with high risk you seek then invest in ethereum during the pumps.
if it is big profit with medium risk you seek then invest in other smaller altcoins with lower price which are getting pumped.

It's very difficolt to say...from one side btc had lost almost 50% from the max, but by the other side, eth have a potential of growth bigger than btc

If we were talked about profit, I should always prefer bitcoin because bitcoin has a higher value which is doupled o triple the value of the altcoin, and this thing makes bitcoin also the attractive kind of cryptocurrency exist.  But today, its happen that bitcoin didn't make any progress of getting high value again, also this thought makes  also ethereum to be next in line in bitcoin. So this time is the best time to invest in bitcoin.

By means of flexibility of features and its friendly usage towards ERC20 tokens eth will have a great potential to outrun bitcoin in the future if that gonna happen because we can just predict but the outcome of the future is always unpredictable and surprising, but the thing is in spite the features that bitcoin is lacking, it is the most used and most anticipated or supported coins on the globe, the foundation of community and trust that it builds these past years is great, when you ask a normal person lacking knowledge towards the cryptocurrency, they will answer you about bitcoin. They have their own paths as some people said eth is future of the internet, but who knows?
