I'd be in for two tickets, should a viable funding mechanism come to be.

I know nothing of havelock - isn't that an equity exchange? I've learned not to trust this class of business. They all seem to implode, vaporizing vast swaths of wealth.

Yea a color coin type system would be best...

oh, but you shouldn't.

Maybe it's said in the thread and I missed it, but what exactly are the conditions? Is it sufficient for a single trade to happen >= $1000 or does it have to stay there during the party? I guess something in between these 2 extremes would be good, like: 1 daily vwap (use one of the bitcoinaverage.com numbers) above or equal to $1000 would trigger the party to happen, even if exchange rate subsequently drops below again. Of course it might be rather humiliating and the establishment might laugh at us if we have a crash to 400 right before the party, but I'd take that risk personally.

If history has anything to teach us, it'll go from somewhere in the 800s to well above 1500 within a few days. That's how it went at 10 and 100. No way will we have time to plan and setup a party within that time frame

the timing will indeed be difficult. accepting a single spike above 1000 $ could result in having the party at much lower levels, which will be strange since there will be media coverage.  waiting for it to be above 1000 $ "stable" will result in probably missing the right timing in a way that it is not really hot anymore. i think after trigger it will take at least a month or 6 weeks to get going.

bitcoin reaching 1000 $ will be rock´n´roll in the media. but they can only show "dry" charts. an event by and with the bitcoin community will be the face of this new social movement. expect extended media coverage.

we´ll keep it as easy as possible. maybe we release tickets similar to the halfing-structure of btc-mining....  Wink

ps: welcome bitchick, joshv06, jbreher and xDan.

maybe we can come up with a kind of funding that will allow forum members to attend which happen to have not many coins (some kind of donators maybe? ). if one holds 10 or 20 btc or less it would indeed be dramatic to pay 5 or 10 % of future wealth for a party ticket. there are enough deep enough pockets to take care of this... What about attending the party in carnival masks to prevent Big Brother from indexing us for future reference as potential enemies of The Matrix The System ?

So I really should not be wasting my time doing this, but I got tired of email for a minute. With cursory googling I came up with a few ideas.

Daft Punk + Modest Mouse + outkast or wiz khalifa =                                                   <$200,000
$150 per person catering and $250 per person alcohol (top shelf only of course!)=          $400,000
Super sick world class venue, like in a castle or top of a famous sky scraper=                 <$150,000

This would leave us with $250,000 for ice sculptures, chocolate waterfalls (mean literally), a burning man version of Satoshi, disgusting fireworks.. Haha just throwing ideas out there..

welcome qwk !
No no no you got it all wrong, I'll not be at the 1000.- party:

I won't party when it's $1000.
But just before it hits $2000,

I'm gonna party like it's $1999  Grin

see also: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=27348.msg1488836#msg1488836

But with any luck, the 1000.- party will happen, when it hits 1999 Grin

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

feel free to wear or not wear whatever you want. all crazy shit is welcome. it will not happen lots of times in our lives that a crypto-currency matures to 1k and we happen to be part of it. this is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing. maybe only to be topped at btc = 10 k and later = 100 k  Cheesy

there will be media, but they will not allowed to get inside. no cams inside. for ticket purchase we only need your forum name & a btc adress that you control.

I think the first $1000/BTC trade is a good time to start planning the party. Something of this magnitude will take a lot of time and effort to plan.

Count me in.

Still around.

I asked my sister, who's a practicing attorney and been hosting fundraisers for over a decade, to help throw together a potential prospectus for the party. She's already sourced some great venues, one specifically in Berlin (http://www.adagio.de/index_start.php). She needed help narrowing down potential sites, so I told her Japan or Germany makes the most sense to me due to Bitcoin's history. I told her to find an old bank or vault if possible that could accommodate 1,000 people including dance floor and place to eat...

She's already crack'n away.
